Here are his comments on Ali. I bolded the part I found odd:
It still doesn't? So, is he trying to say he's still struggling with that? That he wants her back now, but is fighting the urge to pull a literal Mesnick and beg her to take him back in an ATFR? I swear this man talks in code more so than any other lead. Either: a. He's really good at being deceptive and confusing, b. Something funky is going on here post-FRC, or c. He's a total dolt, yammering away about other women in spite of his F1's feelings (assuming on my end that they are still together).
Frankly, I'm betting C. is the answer. Oy! :laugh
My vote is C. also -- don't forget the anti-tattoo comment he made very early on. For a guy that wants to live without regrets, I'll bet he has plenty of them these days.

IMO, it was a nice gesture and touch, but it doesn't mean that he thinks he has something special with her now. It just means that after watching it play back, he can see where she is one he wishes he had kept longer.
Man, I felt that was totally set up to make Jake look like a good guy. He had a ready answer, they prepped him with all the questions he'd be asked. Christina was the obvious answer. She was the insecure girl surrounded by models (that is how she felt) and then she was cut after they highlighted her insecurity and played up that storyline. The edit suggested she was right to feel insecure, Jake chose the swimsuit models over her.
So how does Jake make himself look good? Tell Christina she is the one he has regrets about not getting to know better. It was sweet and clearly touched her, but felt very predictable and set up to me, so I didn't read anything into it. (I also think she's pretty and doesn't give herself enough credit!)

but why on earth would they ask him that question before he's even made a public F1 selection - I don't recall anyone ever being asked that question - but I'm old, so I could just be forgetting.
This season just reeks of garbage.

I think Jake said that to Christina because watching the show back he realized exactly how inferior to the other women she felt... He wanted her to know she shouldn't have felt that way. Not every guy wants to be with the most beautiful girl with big ta-tas. I thought it was a very kind gesture on his part. He could have harped on her drunkenness or he could have just not acknowledged her at all.

Acknowledging Christina in this way was a very safe answer for Jake, for all of the reasons stated already. There was no controvery surrounding her and she seemed very nice; who would dispute this response? We all know he can't say that Ali was gone too soon in response to this question. IMO it was just a "filler" question anyways.

Interesting analysis, VAgirl79! I think your "C" answer is correct, although there's also the possibility that:
he's hoping to come across as "sensitive" and "female friendly" so that when he and Vienna go KAPUT, women will want to comfort him. yuk
Anybody else out there who kept picturing Juan every time Jake complimented hair, makeup, shoes, jewelry, etc? :laugh

Yep, I do! Notice they are both guys whose names start with the letter "J". That's Ali's clue to stay away from the guys with names starting with "J". Never brought her luck in relationships before why do the same thing over with same results. Right?:laugh.
Both Juan and Jake don't adher to the "man code" do they?:laugh. This season is one letter shy of a JOKE.
The other recent "J" started the Mesnick movement.:nod.
