Edit Analysis *SPOILERS*

The Bachelor tells a crafted story wherein hours of continuous filming has been edited down to carefully tell the story that the editors want told. Depending on the ending of the story and the point of view the editors wish to take, it is not unusual to find that screencaps we have seen and things we know to have happened never make it to the actual show. It is important to keep this in mind at all times when viewing and trying to analyze the edit!

Very reliable inside info (RS) has indicated the following results already:

F4 Ali
F3 Gia
F2 Tenley
F1 Vienna

Speculation! Why would the edit color Vienna poorly to begin?

Suggestions made:

1. She was spoofing. This might be a good one. We absolutely know beyond a doubt that the contenders are prompted by (unseen) producers with questions which result in some of those otherwise WHAT???? answers.

2. The producers never intended the ending to get out after the first episode. They expected to have time to "soften" Vienna's edit probably by HTs.

3. Fleiss found out right after Brad picked no one that he (Fleiss) felt shock sells better than romance. They have routinely thrown their F1s way under the bus ( much worse than usual) since Matt's season.

Ok, someone else start. What did you notice or pick up on in the first episode? Any red flags? Any foreshadowing?

I think it makes total sense that Vienna is F1. She was portrayed as the least likely F1, definitely not the prettiest in the house & seems bratty to boot.

Pretty much abc's dream storyline for a surprise ending.

Going by Episode 1 only - I would've picked Corrie as F1, she was seen in a good light, hidden somewhat, we had a few reaction shots of her and she chatted with Jake and they seemed to share the same values.

Ali seems to be getting the F3, loveable edit, ala Jillian and Jeremy, as is Tenley, who's got the hardluck story ala Andy's Danielle, and Gia's getting the F2, vixen edit, ala Chelsea.

I would've pegged Vienna going out at F6 or before based on her edit so far.

Reading RS spoiler and rewatching the show, I would say the facial expression of Jake with Vienna is telling, look carefuly at it during the M and G, the handing out of the rose and also the talk with Chris he does something funny with his face around her and no one else. If she is his pick and they are happy so be it. I have no favorite this season.

I think a huge "tell" for the season was the ending snippet conversation about the mile high club.
Several already commented upon this today.
They could have put a zillion funny things in, but they chose that one with Vienna giving the clincher.

I am agreeing with much of what you say. Before Matt's season, Corrie would have been F1 if we go by the edit. She physically presents well, she made that emotional connection with her questions ( What do you like to do? Handyman? What are your priorities?), and we know that she has the values/qualities he says he is seeking. Also from screencaps, we can see that she is "fun".

Someone tagged the editors who definitely are editing in some different ways as "new" beginning with Matt, and I picked up on it, evidently in error. However, the editors are most assuredly doing some things in quite a different way beginning with Matt's season than they did before Matt's season.

I think Ali quickly being edited as the sweet girl that everyone loves is a death sentence - no way would that ever be the F1 girl. From friends & co-workers who watch, who don't read message boards, Ali is the one they all remember, and a favorite of all of them.

I can't get over the fact that they showed footage of her stumbling when she was walking or that she was shown in the season previews crying about the "fake girls in the house".

First, we know from interviews with applicants that they want people who are willing to say certain things and also they only want a certain number of what they call "normal" people. Of course, they want this for the drama and not for the truth which it shows.
I suspect she was willing to give them at the very least an exaggerated clip. I don't think she wrecked 5 cars any more than I believe that Melissa had not had the dates she said. They get them to say some of this more outrageous stuff for effect.

I'm wondering if the edit will turn into a DeAnna's edit. I think it all depends on how they protray Jake with Ali. We all know DeAnna was into Graham, but was Graham that into her? Ali could be like Graham as she decides to leave. Gia is definitely the hottie as was Jeremy that season. Tenley seems to be the lovable one as Jason was (and most likely perhaps the b'ette). I think Vienna is going to be like a Jesse edit. Goofy at first, never crosses your mind as being the F1, and then we'll see how serious she is at the HTD. Again, i'm curious if this is how they will be editing Jake's season.
