Edit Analysis *SPOILERS*

I put this in the screencaps thread - but maybe it belongs here. Do we know that Ali doesn't come back? It would be recycling the edit that Ed got - of leaving for work and then coming back? Ed was seen at home so we discounted any screencaps that looked like him. And it would be consistent with Fleiss recycling story lines?

The edit of the first episode usually focuses on gals that either provide drama for the season, the F3/F2. F1 is normally hidden in the first episode:

1. Jenni during Brad's season ... major focus 1 and 2nd episodes.

2. Amanda during Matt's season ... FIR (IIRC).

3. Jillian during Jason's season.

... etc.


F1 doesn't usually start to come forward until the 1/1 date, and sometimes even the HTD (Jesse). Shayne was portrayed badly until the 1/1 date. Jesse was portrayed badly until the HTD. Deanna was portrayed as very aggressive until the HTD.

Seems to me that the edit so far is pretty much falling in line with the rest of the edits since Brad's season. I originally queried why would they throw Vienna under the bus so early on ... but, in going back through past seasons, Deanna, Shayne and Jesse started off with negative edits and previews. Molly also had a negative edit ... spending the night in the tent coming home in different clothes.

Since Brad's season, Fleiss realized that shock brought ratings back up ... romance no longer brought the viewers in.

With the first epi edit(unless they are still filming) they do show F1 a little with 1:1 with one or maybe two PI's...
and f2 f3 or like you said drama people..
and with pre-season sc's and promo's etc..they usually don't show f1..and we have said before that Ch to watch list usually doesn't include the f1..

Other than the intro, do you think Vienna got a bad edit? If so, how?

She pretty much was just one of the gals in the first episode. The intro, and the previews are not very flattering. The intro was edited to make her look like a ditz and completely shallow ... Jake's discussion with CH followed that up with their time together didn't go very deep.

Whether Ali really is upset with Vienna being the one getting a 1/1 date; or whether it was edited to make it look that way ... the result is the same ... the implication is that Ali (an early fan favorite) does not care for Vienna so much so that she is upset that she got a 1/1 date.

The preview pretty much hid Vienna from being in the F4.

Yep, and they did show a little of Vienna ... Jake kissing her leg ... but for the most part, she was just another gal for the first episode.

The previews hid her from the F4, with the exception of WDG, who could have been Ashleigh as well ... Sanlee, however, did a great job on the leg comparisons.

I think it makes total sense that Vienna is F1. She was portrayed as the least likely F1, definitely not the prettiest in the house & seems bratty to boot.

Pretty much abc's dream storyline for a surprise ending.

Didn't we see Jake say he was not looking for the best looking girl there. So if he wanted average looking gals I guess the good looking ones are for ratings.

Nothing would shock me, but RS has firm information that Vienna is F1. And he's always been right about who F1 is.

When I found out that Vienna was final 1 I was surprised.Her edit from the beginning showed a girl who had wrecked five cars that her daddy bought her,which to me showed that she had her daddy wrapped around her fingers.Especially if her father isn't rich,that shows that her father is spoiling her.The little dog thing I thought was odd.Sure her dog was cute and all but wanting to get a daddy for her dog and hoping Jake was it was kind of creepy.

Now at the actual M&G I couldn't get a vibe from her because we didn't see her much.From what I did see,she did seem nervous which would be natural.

I think I am going to need to see next week's episode before I can get a clue as to how they are going to edit her.
