Of course the prerequisite of looking fabo in a bikini is very important
How many of them accepted a proposal from a man they had no long-term interest in?

The vast majority of them would be my guess. Partially because they get caught up in the bubble and fantasy prior to letting real life sink in.

I would guess all of them. It doesn't make good sense to go on a show like this for the sole reason of finding your husband/wife. You go for the adventure and if the bug bites you then that is icing on the cake. JMO.

eta: they might not have had long-term interest when it began, but may have found something there during the process.

If that's the case, I can't for the life of me understand the outrage toward Jason for proposing to Melissa. The hew and cry over that was ridiculous, if we accept that "virtually everyone" goes on the show to accept marriage proposals from people in whom they have no long-term interest.

The majority have proposed/accepted proposals, and then kaput. It's the stockholm syndrome ... in the moment, they feel they're in love, because they have lived, breathed, talked everything TB ... mass hysteria because they are being fed that they absolutely need this guy by TPTB.

People weren't outraged that Jason proposed to Melissa, they were outraged that he chose to break up with her on national TV, and in the same show, turn and kiss Molly, asking for another chance.

    That outrage has since vanished.

I agree. I was one who thought what Jason did was a jerk thing to do to Melissa. Now, she's moved on and he and Molly are going to get married. Good for all of them. And... I'll probably watch it, lol.

Going on the show on a lark and accepting a proposal from someone you know you DON'T care for is different than getting caught up in the moment and accepting a proposal from someone you are convinced you DO care for.

And, yes, I'm afraid many people were quite outraged about Jason's proposal to Melissa. They said he should never have proposed to her after her outburst when Molly was escorted away. They said that he knew right then that he had no business proposing to someone else.

How would a reshoot work? Unless paid a boatload of money after signing a gag order for life, Vienna would undoubtedly come forward as the F1 (if he chose her) even if they broke up very soon after the show. Otherwise, a reshoot would point to a scripted season in which all participants were paid.

The business of television explains nearly everything. For starters to be utterly obvious, all that effort, and it would not impact ratings one bit. The exact same number of viewers would have tuned in on March 1 whether Jake proposes/picks Vienna (11/23 shoot), or does not (hypothesized secret reshoot). The Finale Show's ratings do not depend on any particular outcome, just AN outcome. The franchise does not seek much less depend on a Happy Couple anymore either. And does anyone think they care about Jake's or Vienna's public persona as of March 2, 2010 when their ratings have been achieved for his edition of the show? It's on to new format Bachelor reunion show and Bachelorette!

Technically, you are always one of our ace sources of info, and I always want to acknowledge that. Thank you for your patience as I tried to sort out this bit of potentially important information.

The next part is in general and is not directed at jlccaz :

Some people can act unconscionably and take advantage of others' naivete', and with so much info sometimes out there, it is also difficult at times to know what is real and what is bogus. I have received a couple of PMs that have helped me to understand that the reshoot is simply a rumor -albeit one that can hurt the people rumored and most definitely the ones who believed it.

I have stated before that I was on this board during DeAnna's season when I think almost all of us got taken by bad inside info coming from several directions including from a couple quite significant contenders themselves. The sleuthers who might have escaped (if any) surely might have gotten caught in the haul a few seasons before that one.
    We live and learn.
I throw that out there for anybody who got hurt by this one and might be reading and to help those of you who are learning.
Dear paranoid people who check behind their shower curtains for murderers, if you do find one, what's your plan?

The outrage always fades. Any outrage towards Vienna will disapate at some point -- no doubt about that. That doesn't negate the possibility of people being very upset to see her accept Jake's proposal and then learning she had no real interest in any kind of relationship with him.

She is already quite suspect as being a bad match for Jake. If they find that she knew she was a bad match....let's just say, I wouldn't want to be her.

On edit- there have been many questions on why V's edit was so "bad" for an F1. Well she was signed up to provide drama on the show due to her personality. They knew she would give them a lot to work with for the show. They did not expect J to go for her. They could not not use all her drama and hide her because nothing else was happening in the house without her at the center. So they had to "make her look bad" to keep the show interesting. IMO. A sidebar to this:Reading a book on 2008 election and they said the public views of who Elizabeth Edwards was and who she is were totally opposite. They spin real life as well as this show.
