Although I am not a professional actor, I do believe I could fake some crying and sobbing for the chance at the lead in my own show. Particularly since I would potentially have a number of chances to shoot the scene (you know, with all the takes people get during the filming of a television show).

of course they gave her those photos for that "shoot". Why does it have to be all or nothing with the so-called "scripting"? I believe that the producers manipulate the contestants and when she told them that she was thinking of leaving, you can bet you're bottom dollar that she was told that it had to be on camera, with probably a few takes, so it kind of loses it's naturalness, I'm sure. That hotel scene, although shown along with the phone call, was shot before the RC the day she talked to Jake and told him that she may leave. It was in the same hotel and the clock said, I believe 6:05 (that's what I'm remembering but somebody could check it) so the cameras probably followed her back to her hotel and the producer probably told her to put the robe on and lay in the bed so they could get some shots of her being torn in making her decision. I think Fleiss decided to save that footage so that he could give the viewers some more Ali-time in last weeks episode.

and to address her "tears" - just looking at her face and hair tells me that her tears were real, she is not a pretty crier, is anybody? ... BUT they condensed a few hours of footage into about 10 minutes, so of course it was disjointed and it lost some of it's "realness" because of lack of continuity, and we didn't get to see the whole thing play out. If she "faked" all those tears, then the girl has missed her calling as she cries better than many seasoned actresses.

I think she was crying and sobbing, but I think it was because she was contractually required to make that phone call.

I agree with this. The show is scripted (well known). It's not 100% fiction. The ideas are generated as the situations present themselves. Situational scripting.

oh my, I read in the Edit Analysis, I'm wrong. Evidently, some action is on the fly and exploited, but not much. Most action is preconceived. rats

The crying scene was too long and drawn out so that the effect became tedious and annoying. She then appeared to look whiney and as if she were trying to manipulate him rather than just terribly upset over the situation.
Less time would have worked just as well for the overall edit and would have worked better for her personal edit as well in my opinion.
As it is, I look forward to sleuthing her season, but I am hoping that they are not going to put major emphasis on long crying spells over big decisions.

I agree... though I do believe that the season was a bust and the TPTB tried to use Ali to single-handedly save the season. Yes the crying after the HTD's was completely drawn out and annoying but it's not completely her fault that the HTD's were such a snoozefest that they had 40 mintues left over at the end to dedicate to her dramatic exit.

I do feel bad for Vienna... she was assigned antagonist role of the season who just happened to be the F1...

Jake was not the star of this seaon... Ali and Vienna were

I am beginning to think that Jake picked Vienna as his F1 but did not propose...They have since broken up and Jake wanted to get back with Ali....however Ali has now signed on to do the Bachelorette.......so Jake's only option is to try to be one of her 25 guys............Could make for an interesting Bachelorette......Fleiss would love it......What do you think??
