For Howard Beach native Gia Allemand, modeling and pageantry have been her way of life ever since she was a baby.
“I started my modeling career as a baby in Johnson & Johnson ads and I was also a Gerber baby” the Gia recalled. “I just picked modeling back up three years ago, but I’ve always been in pageants.”
With titles such as Miss American Dream, Miss Italy and runner up in Miss Hawaiian tropic and Miss Red Hot Taj Mahal Superbowl, for Gia, pageantry is a full-time job.
After attending the Hartford Conservatory for her undergraduate education – yes, she’s a ballerina as well – Gia returned to NY and started pursuing her passions.
On a recent calendar shoot in the Bahamas, she accidentally arrived a day early and found herself at a foreign airport without a phone, hotel or transportation.
“I was scared. I had to do everything myself, but I did end up getting another job out of it,” she said.
When not traveling to model or compete, Gia mostly enjoys spending time at home, shopping, yoga, horseback riding, and swimming. “I like staying physically active,” she said. Currently she’s prepping to compete for Miss USA New York.
She also really likes living in Queens. “It’s easy to get everywhere. You don’t want to live in the city because then you can’t have a car. But Queens is close enough to the city where you can just drive in and park, and it also offers you a good piece of suburban life.”
