I haven't been able to find the dead tree yet..obviously we're more interested in dead trees than anyone else. I did find a picture of a dead gopher at Stow Lake, so if we get that in a SC, I've got it covered.
It really does look like the same area.

I lightened the photo that we have, but it's a different angle. The tree actually does look very similar.

Dead GOPHERS vs. TREES, that's hilarious, SS. It would be sad if someone took time away from a family vacation to the fabulous City of SF to get additional proof. By Jan 6, we'll have scads more Screencaps of higher value than this one. Personally, I'm satisfied. There are no reasons to think it's NOT Golden Gate/epi5 1:1 date, and many many reasons to think it is.

Ok, here it is flipped. I wish I could spin it around & get the angle from the lake, but alas.... If this photo was taken just 20 feet farther & looking at the tree.

SAFFRON - thank you for doing that - I sure can see good similarities especially near the base of the tree - and at the knot that is a coupld of feet up the trunk - good job LOL

I noticed the knot on the tree too. I looked on Google earth & (if it's at the same place as the photo with the pagoda) there is a paved road right behind Jake & lady friend, so that would explain how she could wear those shoes.
