You are quite right! Thank you for reminding me of that which brings up another good point. The interaction between Ed (F1) and the lead did not call attention to the contestant in a "Look at me!" fashion; rather the interaction served to establish a connection - which in the editing ( and sleuthing) is quite important. This time it was an emotional connection when they talked about careers and relationships as opposed to the physical connection that was established when she spoke with Kip and mentioned his appearance out of the limo.

Until Melissa, we always saw the lead interact with at least the F1, F2, and F3, and we could look for the connections that were made at the Meet and Greet.

There was so much criticism aimed at the editors and producers over the fact that Melissa wasn't even shown at the Meet and Greet that I suspect they are possibly going back to the original format where the lead is shown at least talking with the F3 if not the F4. From an editing standpoint, I am anxious to see!

Your conclusion on the F1 edit is spot on. Remember, though Melissa was chosen at the FRC, that was not the end of the season. The season ends at the AFRC. Before the show started in January, Jason and Melissa were already over. As such, Melissa was given the F2 edit. Not neccessary a meet at the M&G and a very physical edit which is the F2's. We like to insist that his choice was Melissa etc. But in all the interviews of Jason and the F1, Melissa was not present. Remember the F1 is obligated by contract to attend. so Molly as F1 attended. If you rewatch that season, you will note that Molly had the classic F1 edit. Because of the controversy, most people will rather not check or know. so far tptb have not deviated from this basic edit. It will be good to stick with it this season and not let preferences cloud our judgement.
