PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT.
Dear FoRTers,
we all know the site is likely to be bombarded with heavy traffic during and after the finale for The Bachelor.
We're closing the site to guests, but we would also like to ask for your help in relieving pressure on the servers.
Please consider amending the amount of posts you see per page.
Click User CP (this is shown at the top of most pages) and select Edit Options.
Scroll down to Thread Display Options and change Number of posts per page to a higher amount, preferably 100.
If you're on a slow internet connection you may want to temporarily remove any or all of the options to see avatars, signatures and images.
Please try to keep chatting to an absolute minimum.
Don't quote a post just to add "great post" or "I agree".
Please don't post smiley only or "I love X' messages" or off topic comments such as "I love you avatar".
We do ask that people not post that type of low-content message at all, but when we know there is a lot of traffic it's particularly important that don't have the servers straining to post "I really like Melissa's dress" multiple times.
Please keep the posting of images to a minimum too.
We may have to take the step of temporarily denying access to anyone we feel is continually posting low-content posts on finale night.
We realize we're asking you to make changes to the way you post, but we hope you'll be willing to comply.
We cannot guarantee that volume of traffic won't cause the site to crash, but all the above steps we've asked you to take will certainly help to take the pressure off.
