Bek.. I feel for you. Really I do. I think it's crummy that Jason bought into Fleiss' requirement that he wait to break it off with Mel until the AFRC. I do.. I am guessing, purely speculation here, that Jason figured it out and let Fleiss know sometime in December that it wasn't going to work with Melissa and that he had been in touch with Molly. It is AT THIS TIME that I think Fleiss gave the ultimatum.."If you want Molly, you follow our game plan". I really believe that Fleiss told Jason he couldn't break up with Melissa until an AFRC. Probably used some sort of legal contract crap to convince him. So Jason is in love with Molly, wants to break up with Mel, but can't per his contract. YES your are right.. it's CRAP that Jason broke up with her in front of a camera, but that's the price they pay for being on a show like this in the first place. It may be crumby, but that doesn't make Jason any worse than any other guy that has a change of heart... Jason just happened to be under contract with a really slimy guy who is willing to exploit it.

How long exactly IS Jason on contract. No offense, but I doubt "highly" doubt that he's contracted to them for the rest of his freakin life. PLO/Sadie managed to hook up again just fine. Jason could have done this the right way and he chose not to. Period. And Melissa didn't sign up for that part of the show. She didn't sign up to be hoodwinked.

They broke up AT the taping of the ATFR, Part I, the first After! None of it's "live" tv, but nonetheless, he asked for her ring back on the closed set of the ATFR, Part 1, taping--on camera! Those facts are pretty clear.

There are those posting who says this date would have been Jan. 18, according to the emails.

I give Molly and Jason a 10 percent chance of making to the altar. Molly is not "mother material" in my humble opinion, plus being that far away from Mom and Dad will be hard on her.

I think Fleiss misjudged his Bachelor audience..No one wants to see someone dumped on TV..We are not Jerry Springer

What really should have happened is that even if Jason was playing along with the Melissa thing..He should have never have asked in the first place..However, he should have quietly broken up with her..and not agreed to a After the Rose II show. Then a couple of months later started dated Molly, if he wanted.

Fleiss might have gotten this switcharoo idea from last year's episode with Jeremy, etc..We were all hoping that she would change her mind about him..but she didn't..

I am a long time lurker here, but have never posted! I really enjoy seeing what everyone has to say... especially with a season as crazy as this one. My question is this. Is it possible that Melissa has been being groomed to be the next Bachelorette from the beginning? Maybe Fleiss picked her out of the group to begin with. She sure has been getting that edit. I think her being a DCC is part of it too. He was hoping Jenni from Brad's season would be the next Bachelorette, but she went back home to her ex. I think he is hoping for the former DCC's or former Pro Cheerleaders for ratings. Just a thought.

So what do we know about the ATFR, Part 2. Supposedly it's to have the F1 & F2 on it (I'm not even trying to put names w/ those). Has that been filmed yet and who was on it and did it have an audience?

I'm having a hard time keeping up with this wild thread, so forgive me if this was brought up. What if . . . Jason simply realized he made the wrong choice. No Montreal scheme, no dating behind Melissa's back . . . just a mistake. They spent more time together and weren't compatible or realized she really didn't want to move/be a step-parent, or he saw something in her that made him think she was not ready to be a mom/be a role model to Ty. Whatever. He decides he'd like another chance with Molly. There are only two ways to go. One is to play out the engagement and break up after the ATFR. But Jason says, wait, he wants to be a stand-up guy and explain things. Maybe they are even willing to explain it together. Isn't this a possibility, that he doesn't want to be just another Bachelor break-up like the rest? How do we know he is being a bad guy ... yet?

We have seen from a few different sources (on the board, rumored emails, and RS) that indicators are that Melissa did not know beforehand.

I suspect we will never know for sure and people will believe what they want largely based upon their feelings towards Melissa.

At this point I tend to believe the sources we are hearing until evidence or sources to the contrary come along.

I think you misunderstood my post, so let me clarify.
1) From my understanding there was no break up until ATFR1 on Friday, Jan 23rd. That would indicate Melissa would not have known prior to this date.

2) Again, from what I had heard after their break up Melissa had been seen a private gatherings with a man. The man was labeled as an ex.
There had been rumors saying that Melissa was engaged. I had never heard this from any of my sources.

3) I have no feelings toward Melissa or any of the cast other than a morbid curiousity to watch the show. Anyone who knows me and my posts will avidly say I pick no favorites.

I think my problem is the deception. If he went against his contract to contact Molly, then why wouldn't he do the same thing to talk things over with Mel? If he cared for her at all, he should have shown her some respect and told her that he was having second thoughts. I don't buy that Fleiss forced him to wait to tell Mel until the ATFR. That's a cop out. Bottom line is, if it happened the way RS says it did, Jason and Molly had a secret relationship, and he broke a trust. And that is just wrong.
