I totally agree with your post. and add that in DeAnna's season they introduced Jason and showed him handing Ty off to the aunt or whoever it was that was going to take care of Ty while Jason was away... led me to believe mom had fled ...

The only thing Jason said on the subject was when he first told Deanna about being a dad. She asked if he was married. He said yes but that "she decided to go in a different direction". He was talking about the marriage. We assumed that either the mom wasn't in his life or had a limited role and maybe that's what the producers wanted us to think, but Jason never said that.

Actually if you still have that season available for viewing please go back and rewatch the parts where Jason is talking about his ex. I know that I heard him say that his ex decided that she didn't want to be a mom or a wife. That was something that really stuck in my head as it is something that one would say if the other spouse "ran off" without thought or concern about the child that they had together. It was also one of the reasons why I had a problem with Jason last season. He was throwing his ex under the bus to make himself appear a better person and parent. If I am not mistaken Jason also said something very similar to Deanna's family when he met them. Make him look like the better "choice" than Jesse because he had been through so much and had sacrificed for his child when the childs mother thought of only herself.

You can find the videos of their dates on youtube. I watched a couple of them just yesterday (including the 1on1) and he never said that.

I find it odd then that two of us, totally different people that don't even know one another, have the same recollection of what Jason said concerning his ex and Ty. As I said, it may not have been when Jason and Deanna had their one on one date but Jason DID say that about his ex last season.

I think he was explaining that to Deanna to say why his ex left the marriage, he didn't mean in the current context of she wasn't in Ty's life now. But I did hear THIS season, on one of the media interviews I watched on youtube, that Jason said his ex travels a lot, and Ty is with him or his family a lot. I asked in another thread, does anyone know what she does for a living? Is she is sales or something that requires her to travel?

But I do think his ex left the marriage cause she didn't want to be a wife and Mother and was too young when she got married. (Wasn't she like 22? and he was 26 or 28?) I'd understand why his thing after his ex and Deanna would to be to find someone that has that sparkle he wants so much but also wants to settle down, (really) Not just saying they do.

I just watched the meet the parents date. I'm assuming this is the comment you're talking about. He told Deanna's dad that his wife left him to start a relationship someone else. And that he has Ty most of the time. Which still fits with what he's saying now. The custody might be 50-50 but he says she travels a lot so it's probably not physically 50-50. But I still haven't seen anything from him saying that she didn't want to be a mom.

Not the one I was remembering. There was one comment which really struck me, when he said that she left because she didn't want to be a wife and a mother. I remember thinking how can anyone that has a new baby feel that way... how could someone ever leave their baby???
