Re: What's up with that edit??!! As Margo Channing says in All About Eve, "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night." Every single season the final product as aired includes many scenes and plot lines to "wreck" the "unfolding" love story. It's never a clean presentation -- it can't be. Conflict is a necessary ingredient. Suspense they've thrown out the window, for some reason.

There were several things going on last season: 1. It is a toss up whether the biggest problem was the extremely poor job of editing we got or whether it was that we completely bought into false/conflicting, changing and even worse betraying inside info ( from some cast members who made friends with us and thought it would be funny to mess with us ).2. My biggest interest in this show is in the editing. I am not a writer, but throughout my teaching career I taught the fundamentals of writing to Middle School students, and I know good and bad writing techniques when I see them. Last season's editing was an extremely poor example of writing craftsmanship if the ultimate purpose of writing is communication. If that writing team was the best that ABC could get out of the potential pool of Hollywood talent, then I would say that they got rooked. 3. Although we had screencaps last season, we did not have comparable screencaps to this season. We were not able to look at last season's scs and locate places in such a way that we could pinpoint some of the things with as much of a certainty as we are able to do this season. 4. I was much more symphathetic to DeAnna than many people going into her season, and I was certainly willing to give her a chance and to believe in her and in her ability to choose a partner that would be all around acceptable for her and the family within the culture that they live. With as much diplomacy as I can, I am going to say that in some ways I believe that maybe the edit also reflected that with which they ultimately had to work. I think for a great many people it would have taken a tremendous suspension of belief to have imagined that what transpired during that season and the ultimate ending actually was going to happen. Thus, we are still getting reaction after reaction like yours. ![]() Finally, when you take all of it into consideration, you get what was last season.

Re: What's up with that edit??!! not sure what the general viewing public thought. however I do think they did not show much of the love story between Jesse and D. For one thing I think Graham was her original first choice. I think also the producers wanted Jason to stay as long as possible so he could be set up for first single dad Bachelor. I think they wanted us to think it was Jason. However on this board the very early rumors about Jesse tainted many posters view of him. Also the board wanted a more mature guy for D even though she clearly is more of a Jesse type of girl (even though she dumped him) D seems to morph into whatever she thinks everyone wants her to be. Her lack of self awareness is probably why she is still single. Not a bad thing, she needs to find her own way. Even though they did not throw the love story in our face Jesse was front and center the whole time. He got a FIB, he won nearly every contest. He got a very romantic one on one date. He had a romantic carriage ride on his hometown date. He got a second chance to has her Dad to marry her, he got the much more romantic LCD, etc. I saw it, but many did not. the lack of one on one time with Melissa makes me think she is the one, Jason must have lit up on the first night with her.

The problem I have with the tears scene is that he's leaning over a glass fence, which we saw in the very beginning in some of his PIs, so I thought it was somewhere in LA (his place maybe) and the F3 RC and FRC take place in NZ...correct???

That is definitely the difference this season, we actually have live action previews of Jason on his knee proposing to and putting a ring on a lady's finger, who clearly has identifiable moles and a bluish dress - as far back as I can remember, we've NEVER been given this kind of information this early. We got Jen's hand during PLo's proposal, but just that, no dress to identify her as soon as we know what both ladies will be wearing. Graham leaving when he did screwed up Deanna's order, I've heard Deanna reportedly said that Jason was supposed to go at F4, but I wonder why she didn't let him go at F3 and take Jeremy to F2 - doesn't matter which you take, if you're not picking either.

Re: What's up with that edit??!! I just wanted to jump in and say this is my absolute favorite thread! I haven't watched all the seasons, but did watch all of DeAnna's show. I seem to remember a show a long time ago that had three bachelorettes in Alaska. I found myself thinking it was all about the editing with the producers trying to make us come to the conclusions and emotions THEY wanted us to have. (can you tell I am a relative newbie to reality tv?) I believe I am enjoying this board more than the show itself!
