Melissa is getting the same edit as Shayne did -which includes the jealous edit, like Jason/Matt should just ignore the other girls and pick them, then and there. That the other girls feelings don't begin to compare to theirs, and that just isn't true. The feelings may not be reciprocated, but they are real just the same.

I also didn't care for Melissa when she seemed to confront some of the girls for what they did with Jason when acting - that conversation she had with Meghan about how she took advantage of the scene was too catty for my liking.

In this case, it is Melissa herself who is getting hurt by all of her self-professed honesty of negative emotions which just opens her up to other people's judgement of her.

When I was teaching fulltime instead of subbing, I used to tell the Middle School kids I taught that "Everything that goes on in your head does not necessarily need to come out of your mouth."

I love Melissa's bubbly personality, but she does need to learn that she doesn't HAVE to share everything she thinks and feels to still be an honest person.

I am a quite person by nature and like to be in a calm evironment. Living with someone like Melissa's would leave me emotionally and mentally drained. Good thing I'm not Jason.

I don't think Melissa ever said that he can't pay attention to the other girls, or downplayed how the other girls felt. Melissa specifically said before the RC, "All of us feel like we have something special". Shayne definitely pouted and said that Matt should just pay attention to her, but I don't think Melissa ever said that. I took her reaction at the wrap party, and the parts of their conversation that we got to see, not as "pay attention to me, ignore the other girls", but more "seeing you with the other girls bothered me and made me realize how I feel about you" That's not the same thing. Shayne was demanding of Matt's time, directly to Matt. Melissa made comments to the camera that she'd like to switch places with Naomi, not directly to Jason.

I do see your point regarding the edits, to some degree. Shayne was the focus of her season. Matt was focused on her, attracted to her, and physical with her in ways that he never was with the other women. We do see that with Melissa this season, but I personally think that's where the similarities end.

And therein lies the huge difference between Melissa and Shayne, INMHO. I have a difficult time comparing the two except they are both quite attractive, flirty, fun and well-liked by the other ladies in the house. Maybe not by all the posters, but by those that actually lived with them. Again, JMHO.

TPTB are certainly editing Melissa to look insecure. I think much of what she says is probably just "venting", but we see so much of this from her and almost none of it from anyone else. We can see her emotions in the situation and empathize with her- she seems like a real person- but a bit high maintenance emotionally.

Jason appears to have a bit of a "caretaker" part to his personality. He wants to fuss over someone and try hard to make them feel special. You've heard the saying that "every relationship needs a flower and a gardener", well, I think Jason likes being the gardener. He wants to tend to someone a bit. Melissa seems to need some tending. She has lots of emotions flying around and she needs to processs them. Gillian, Molly and Stephanie, on the other hand, are tending to themselves at this point. Jason admires that quality, but he also enjoys the feeling of being needed. Melissa seems to need his nurturing more than the others (at least from the edit we are seeing). . . JMO.

I think there is reciprocity in the relationship and they take care of each other. The editing is looking at Melissa last night.....she ministered to his need before the rose ceremony and let him know that she notices all the little things about him. She lets him know that she wants and needs him. I think that makes her more attractive to him.

Can I just say that I love your posts in general and I think in this case, you have succinctly hit the nail on the head. As discussed here in recent days, some women want that kind of attention and others would find it to be suffocating and maybe even insulting. I think one's position on this matter sort of colors how we feel about what's happening on the show and who we like and dislike.
