| Re: What's up with that edit??!! My take on the edit. Fleiss has three distinct edit patterns and all of the past bachelor seasons except Brad fit the mold into one of the three. (If we ever have a season like Brad's again we will have a fourth edit pattern to study. The patterns are nice girl vs right girl edit (recent seasons: PLo/Jen; Byron/Mary if you want I can post full list of which seasons this applies to) this edit is characterized by only slight differences between final two and both getting mainly positive edit. They will use slight negative for F2 (doesn't fit with family, naivete etc) and slight positive for F1 (fit's well w/family, perfect match etc) at the end of the WTA preview to set the table for the edit. The second pattern is the Good vs Evil edit where the editors build vast difference in the personalities of the final two showing good vs evil, sane vs crazy, sweet vs trashy etc. This edit pattern is easy to spot and usually makes for an early discovery of F1 even if you sleuth caps. Recent seasons for this one (Matt/Shayne, Travis/Sarah, Charlie/Sara.) The third edit pattern is the Risk/Reward vs Safety edit where the F1 is somewhat hidden throughout early going and emerges as a favorite later in show. This person is built as having hesitancy to commit or some other issue built as something the couple has to overcome. The F2 is an early favorite but doesn't seem to have any reserve about them and the bachelor. They often throw themselves at him/her or develop easy friendship that is comfortable. They will use words like settle for comfort vs take a risk to set the table during WTA preview. Recent seasons for this one are (Dee/Jesse; Andy/Tessa; Jen/Jerry and Meredith/Ian.) I d on't know yet whether they will build risk vs safety or good vs evil but definitely enough divide between Mol and Mel that it isn't the first one. I will post a follow up as edit develops. Mol is getting a decided "Bevin" edit so we may have the third pattern in play.

There were two different girls who voted Melissa off because of competition, so I think there was definitely more than we saw. Although in the Meet/Greets, Melissa is the only one who Jason's hand lingered on as she walked away. (That I recall at least.)

That was great! I look forward to hearing how you see this is going to play out. The only thing so far that I have seen negative on Molly is when she was in the lobby during the intro with Naomi and Megan making competitive type remarks. Even if I didn't know, I would have suspected that all of them were getting painted with non F1 brushes. Shayne got away with some of the competitive stuff, but then she was Shayne and that whole set-up.

I think in the Mol vs. Mel thing, we've seen that Mol isn't afraid to go get what she wants...we saw her pull Jason away twice, and once from the girl who stole her from him. And we saw Melissa sit back and not approach, not get approached. They've already been edited on opposite sides of the spectrum in how they dealt with the first meeting, so I think you've pegged the story arc for this season.

I posted this in the Melissa thread, but it fits here, too. Melissa seems to have a pretty bad poker face, as well. Her reaction shots are almost always very expressive. That seems to be another similarity between her and Jason.

| Re: What's up with that edit??!! Fleiss did a good job fooling the average viewer but the fact that the girl he gives the ring to wears a gold pinkie ring and has a mole on left arm means melissa the winner ! Take it to the bank! If you have a dvr slow down the previews that are showed at the end. melissa is crying and has her hands in front of her face. There you see the ring and the mole. There is the proff melissa the winner. |
