With that in mind, these are my thoughts:
1. I will be surprised if she ever takes one real step toward becoming a teacher. When she said that to Jason, it sounded a little too canned, too convenient. Because "I want to be a stepmom, AND a wine sales rep!" most likely wouldn't have won him over. I wish I had a nickel for every person who has told me they wanted to be something else but never did anything to get there.
2. The DWTS thing is disturbing. Good for her and all, but it does have ramifications:
a. This is my pet peeve with the show, not her fault, but she's not a "Star." She's a reality TV character. But then again, neither is anyone else on the show. It should be called, "Dancing With the has-beens, a singer who had a hit in the 90's, an ex-football player, somebody who used to be on a sit-com, an aging model, a not very funny comedian, a black guy, a latino, someone who is way too old for this, someone who is too young to care about ballroom dancing, and other people trying to become, for the first time or again, "Stars."
b. She is a professional dancer and, even if that means only that she has rhythm and understands choreography, it gives her an advantage.
c. She does have the sympathy vote, although going on the show makes her a lot less sympathetic.
d. What a tidy package. ABC wins again.

Considering that Jason has been blasted on the front of tv stations, newspapers, the biggest internet engines, and has been the butt of every talk show host and comedian in the last week at the expense of ABC who sponsored his show, I figure ABC, contrary to popular belief, might just be scrambling around a little for a bit for some positive publicity.

Melissa, as the humiliated fiancee who come to find out really didn't have to be dumped on tv and then replaced by her successor who made out with her dumper, has a chance in America's eyes to shine in something she does well.

I kind of think it was both a needed and smart move on the part of ABC at the same time. It helps redeem the network's part in a sleazy, sordid action.

I don't have a link to this, but I watched that season.It was before Max was born. Trista did mention that she was uncomfortable with some of the dancing moves and that discomfort showed up in her dancing. She didn't like dancing like that knowing Ryan was watching, so maybe it was Ryan who expressed the discomfort.

If you're a fan of the show, that's just nuts.
Ballroom dancing is kind of like elegant, simulated sex. Lot's of serious contenders bring their spouses and kids to rehearsal, but it's for support.
To invite a spouse to judge the propriety of a professional instructor's dance moves, calls in to question the judgment of the contestant and whether they really belong on the show. Apparently, the voters answered that in one episode.

I don't really care what any of them do with their lives and I don't really care what their motivations were for coming on the show, but, IF Melissa came onto the show to gain an entry into show business and then Jason ended up picking her as F1 and that was not what she wanted (why she changed immediately) then all the hate towards Jason and Molly is misplaced and their lives have been made miserable. Perhaps the real reason Melissa's parents didn't want any part of this was because they knew that Melissa's intentions were not aimed towards Jason and they didn't want any part of misleading the guy. I don't think we'll ever know. That said, I don't blame Melissa if this was her intent all along but I also don't blame Jason or Molly.

BAHAHAHAHAha...well this explains everything. I always wondered what the plan was with Melissa...what was the incentive to ever get her to do the Bachelor, because there is no way that competing with 24 other women for a divorced insurance salesman from Seattle with a preschooler was going to cut it, so I knew a deal must have been made!!! This is perfect, and this explains everything. She was probably promised next season, but so be it...the injury stepped this up. Too funny, and now it all makes so much sense, when things didn't make sense with her for me. So much for those latest statements of staying out of TV!!!! I suppose this will delay her getting her teaching certificate! Ahhh....anyway good for Mel. Back with her ex, and a new TV gig, which being a dancer, she is prime for....life is shining pretty brightly for her, and probably just what she planned on happening all along. Funny how that goes. Lucky her. Thanks

It would be interesting to hear how many people are following exactly the course they thought their life would take when they were 24.

If you will notice, I am referencing time. If indeed she did want to take education courses, has she had enough time to even enroll in courses since Jason "officially" broke off with her at the taped ATFR2?
