9.9 million viewers, 3.5/9 in adults 18-49.
(based on averaging overnight half-hour ratings)

8.74 million viewers and 3.1/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 12 ep. 3
8.8 million viewers and 2.9/7 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 11 ep. 3
9.92 million viewers and 3.3/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 10 ep. 3
9.26 million viewers and 3.5/9 in adults 18-49.

Good news and bad news. First the bad news: With strong competition, The Bachelor was #3 in the ratings, except for the last half-hour where it improved to #2, behind 24.

Now for the good news: The Bachelor just scored it's best episode 3 ratings in years! Overnight ratings built each half-hour, and peaked at 10.85 million viewers in the final half-hour. Up almost a million viewers over last week. The longer episodes are working for ABC. Even the demographic numbers are higher than usual. And that's without Dancing With The Stars as lead-in!

The following show, True Beauty is a disappointment for ABC, losing half the viewers of The Bachelor.

But ABC must be thrilled with Jason's season. During the show, Chris Harrison announced that they're casting bachelors for the next Bachelorette. ABC hasn't announced it's schedule, but Bachelorette 4's ratings last summer were good enough for ABC to do it again this summer. The next season of The Bachelor should be on the schedule for the 2009-2010 season. But will it be one or two Bachelor seasons? We find out in May.

Thanks so much for posting & interpreting the ratings info. If I know more people are wtching, maybe I won't be reluctant to ask people in the real world if they watch the show. I especially like your comparison to previous seasons!
