Matt and Chelsea conversations, interviews and voice-overs Episode 5

∙ Chelsea’s reaction to receiving the one-on-one
-C: *screams in delight*
-C (V.O.): I cannot believe I just got my first one-on-one date.
-C (PI): Sun Valley is awesome! So excited to be here,
-C (V.O.): especially with Matt. I’ve never been on a sleigh ride before,
-C (PI): and I was just so thrilled.
-C: I’m excited.

∙ Matt and Chelsea’s Date Part 1
-M (V.O.): My mission here in Sun Valley is actually to
-M (PI): get six down to four.
-C: Ready!
-M: Let’s do it.
-M (V.O.): I’m only going to four of their hometowns,
-M (PI): and I want to make sure that I’m picking the right ones.
-C: Oooohh, look at how big they are! Seriously, look at how cool this is.
-M (PI): There’s no roses anymore on these dates, so that takes a little bit of the pressure off.
-M: Tally ho!
-C: Oh.
-M: Woah!
-C: *giggles*
-M: Are you alright?
-C: I’m fine, buddy. *laughs*
-M: Who’s got the biggest ass? Excuse the pun.
-C: What are you talking about, in the house, the girls?
-M: Yeah. No, I’m talking about the two horses.
-C: Oh, *laughs* I thought you seriously wanted me to answer that.
-M: *laughs*
-C: I love your sense of humor so much,
-M: Do you?
-C: like that is one of the first things I noticed about you. Okay, he’s sarcastic like me. It’s like one quality I can’t live without in a partner.
-M: That’s, that’s why I came onto this. That was the big thing.
-M (V.O.): With Chelsea, I just need
-M (PI): to find out if there’s more than the best friend set-up that’s already existing.

∙ Matt and Chelsea’s Date Part 2
-C: I’m afraid this thing’s just gonna like *pllmp*.
-M (V.O.): We have great fun together.
-M (PI): I just need to make sure there is romance there as well.
-M: You know, I, public displays of affection. PDAs?
-C: Mmhmm, yes. That’s my pet peeve, like my one thing that I’ve noticed. I’m just like ugh, and I don’t like watching other people do it, and I don’t like holding hands, and a lot of people like it.
-M: but holding hands in general, is just a big no-no?
-C: Oh, no no.
-C (PI): We were talking about hand holding. I have a weird phobia pet-peeve thing. I don’t like holding somebody’s hand. It just ugh.
-C: But I’m definitely more of a like linkin the arm, like that’s me.
-M: Yeah.
-C: like Mmm.
-M (V.O.): Some
-M (PI): of the girls find this situation easier than others,
-M (V.O.): and I think Chelsea struggles,
-M (PI): especially when it comes to moments of affection.
-C: No sudden movements, buddy.
-M: Buddy, I love that. *laughs and does a funny imitation* Hey, buddy!
-M (V.O.): I don’t think that it’s just she’s playing hard to get, it’s just in her nature not to
-M (PI): be really forthcoming with kisses and compliments,
-M (V.O.): and I, uh, need someone who is affectionate.

∙ Matt and Chelsea’s Date Part 3
-M: If I’m honest, I don’t like your sense of humor. Ever since I first met you, I’ve found it far to dry and sarcastic.
-C: I don’t know what to tell you. *kind of laughing* That’s the way it’s gonna be.
-M: I can’t believe you just did that!
-C: Oh my, God! Are you being serious?
-M: Do you know they’ve just taken the word gullible out of the English dictionary. Your face, I thought you would’ve learned by now
-C: I almost had a heart attack.
-M: I thought you learned by now, I love your sense of humor.
-C: Oh, thank God!
-M: We would be best mates, but what I really want to find out from is that I think you can be romantic and I know you can.
-C: I can be. And this is like one of the things I get concerned about, like I’ll be quite frank, like some people don’t get, unfortunately, to see the romantic side of me which is there. And it’s a shy side of me. It’s a vulnerable side, and
-M: I’ve seen that.
-C: I’d love to be like just be like Matt and Chelsea. I want to be how I want to be with you. You put me in a romantic situation, I’ll embrace it, believe me. I will.
-M: I find it difficult because I feel a lot for you. You know, and I, there were times on the sleigh where I wanted to really kiss you. I just completely dig you. Completely. And, uh, my parents would love you, I have no doubt of that.
-C (V.O.): Matt has opened himself up to me, and
-C (PI): really shown his vulnerable side to me, and I realize that I need to do the same thing.

∙ Matt and Chelsea’s Date Part 4
-C: I’m going to excuse myself, really fastly, if you don’t mind.
-M: No problem.
-C (PI): I know that the fantasy suite card is typically a couple dates away,
-C (V.O.): but I need to show Matt that I want to spend that type of time alone with him now.
-C (PI): So I decided I’m going to come up with my own fantasy suite card.
-C: I’ve had a really good time with you tonight, but I do want to spend more time with you, and I want to get to know you in other ways. I have something, just go ahead and read it and let me know what you think.
-M: [reading from card] I would love to spend time alone with you. Can we make our own fantasy suite at your place?
-M: I would absolutely love that.
-C: So, with that said Matt, let’s get the heck outta here.
-M: *laughs*
-M (V.O.): When Chelsea
-M (PI): asked me if she could come back to the suite,
-M (V.O.): she pleasantly surprised me. I hope that Chelsea and I can turn a corner and find romance.
-M: I would love for this to work.
-C: So would I, believe me.
-M: I have had an amazing day, and I feel a hell of a lot better. *sighs* I know that you can be romantic.
-C: It just takes time.

*because I feel that the fight is irrelevant to Matt and Chelsea, I have chosen not to transcribe it; however, if someone is really interested in knowing what was said exactly, let me know.

∙ Pre-Rose Ceremony Conversation
-M (V.O.): Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Sun Valley, and I’ve got a really important rose ceremony.
-M (PI): The four that I choose will be the four
-M (V.O.): that I make home visits to.
-M: [greeting the girls] Hello, how are you doing?
-M (V.O.): Hometowns are massively important,
-M (PI): and it’s not going to be an easy decision this evening.
-C (V.O.): My time with Matt, first of all, I walked in and interrupted him and Marshana. She felt like I totally interrupted her time,
-C (PI): and she didn’t get to say what she wanted. Well, if she wouldn’t have freaking talked about me for the first ten minutes, she probably could have gotten out some of the important crap.
-C (V.O.): Her fault.
-C: If you don’t mind, can I talk to you alone for a minute?
-M: Of course you can, Chelsea. Marshana, thank you very much.
-C (PI): And then she stuck around, and I’m like leave.
-M: I think we should probably move.
-C: Yeah, go in there?
Cuts to later
-C: Well, I’m serious about you or I wouldn’t be here. I’m not the type of girl who just sticks around for the heck of it. I want to take you home, meet the family. They’re great. You’d love em. I love spending time with you. You have to know that, and if I’m not showing you that, please tell me, but I hope I’m doing a good job of that because I absolutely…
-M: You know what, with you, I, I guess the one thing that I’m, that I want to see is that romance side. It’s like, I like holding hands, if I’m honest with you.
-C: Okay. Uh huh.
-M: And, there’s a time and place for romance.
-C: Mmhmm
-M: But I want to know that you, that you can deal with that. But I just want to know that this can work.
-C: It totally can.
-C (V.O.): I almost
-C (PI): can’t believe that he questioned me, like am I up for it? Yeah, I’m up for it.
-C (V.O.): I told you how I felt, and I thought I did
-C (PI): a pretty good job, but I guess I didn’t.
-C: You know, I ,I genuinely want to be here more than anything. I do, and I want to be with you more than anything. And I hope you see that I can be the other side that you want. I really do.
-M: Thank you for that.
-C: Thank you. I appreciate you being honest with me.
-M: Give me a kiss.

∙ Rose Presentation Conversation
-M: Chelsea. Chelsea, will you accept this rose?
-C: Yes, yes, I will. Thank you.

*there were soooo many things I noticed in this episode. The first thing: they are talking about being sarcastic and she said it's a must have. Then he replied that's why he came on the show: to find someone sarcastic? Really? I think he was just trying to reassure her of their commonalities and that he likes her. The whole Chelsea is not into giving kisses and compliments: take a look at my other transcripts, episode 2 in particular, yes she does! I think, because Matt digs her COMPLETELY, COMPLETELY, that he just wants even more from her, so it seems like she isn't as forthcoming with them. I do, honestly, think she gets his sense of humor and when he is joking; I notice that she starts to laugh, but then gets a little nervous, because she likes him, that maybe he's serious. Another thing: he says that he feels a lot better now that he knows how she feels. If he was in love with Shayne or Amanda, why would it matter if Chelsea felt the same way he did? He is totally falling for her. Finally, at the pre-rose ceremony conversation, he alludes that he wants the romance but understands that there is a "time and place for it." I think here he is compromising on the PDA thing.

WOW Thanks Heathes... great work on the transcripts. Yes by far.. my fav Chelsea ep to date. And tonights ep will be even better! I truly believe we and well as Matt are going to see "the other side" of Chelsea. And I am counting down the minutes.

Tonight's Tivo preview for the Bachelor:

It's meet-the-folks time as Matt accompanies Amanda, Chelsea, Noelle and Shayne to their hometowns. In L.A., he meets Shayne's dad, Lorenzo Lamas. In Durango, Col., Matt is instantly at ease with Chelsea's parents.

As a Chelsea fan (whether Matt is or not), why does this not cheer me up? Perhaps because Fleiss loves red herrings?

That was awesome Heathes..really appreciate it. I was trying so hard not to pick a favorite. But Chelsea is my fav. She seems real. What you see is what you get. I also think that her PDA comment had the fliess treatment. There was more too it than what we heard. jmo

Sounds like Matt meets Chelsea's family before Amanda's, he would probably be tense and on guard for anything to happen to him otherwise!

And maybe the red herring is Amanda, as there are two All American girls, only one is getting the focus!

Gotta say once again, Chelsea looked gorgeous tonight! She's the gold in Durango! Matt also appeared to have the most trouble saying goodbye to her, seemed to want to get the last kiss in, more than a few times!

Yep, I noticed that too. I just hope Chelsea isn't hurt too bad because I just have a sinking feeling that she is not the F1. The only glimmer of "hope" I have is that Fleiss would NOT give it away so easily. I mean, we figured out the "F1" about a 1/2 hour after the episode finished. The FRC is still two weeks away!

Yeah, I'm not convinced yet either. I thought Chelsea got the best edit tonight and the extra clips of their day in her hometown at the end, looked like a lot of fun and definite chemistry between them!
