| Re: Shayne **Spoilers** I don't think so--I don't think this is the big setup folks want to think it is--fleiss is not obligated to give anyone more minutes of airtime--the truth is she's shown alot because let's face it, she's what we want to see--she's the most entertaining and unique--And Matt is into her--so it's clear really you show the footage that would be most entertaining--Shayne is a hoot, and a lot of fun to watch--thus we get to see more of her--and it helps that matt really fancies the pants off of her. |

| Re: Shayne **Spoilers** You would lose respect for her if she didn't insist on being shown x number of minutes per episode? I don't get that |

| Re: Shayne **Spoilers** I think this whole discussion ought to be under the Thoughts thread under the idea of is this whole series a production? I thought I was a realist, but you have me beat hands down. ![]() I am not positively sure but close because if this is the case then Fleiss has Ms Hollywood starlet beating out Ms Americana. My intuition tells me that the average viewer would relate more to Ms Americana who would be more like she is in terms of everyday life than Ms Hollywood, and therefore the average viewer would root more for Ms Americana to win the heart of Mr. Brit. However, this is Fleiss who lives in the heart of Hollywood and may not understand the mind of the average American woman. Also, if Shayne wins I would love to talk about how Fleiss's editing has shot her in the foot already according to certain phrases in Matt's interviews. If this is a production, it doesn't matter what the editing shows, or what past patterns are..... Again, I think all of this should be in the thoughts thread where we can have a real blow-out with everyone involved!! ![]() |

For example, it would be absurd for her to go on, only to be sent packing after 60 seconds of screentime, like say, someone who mentioned that she had read on the internet that Matt had appeared in a student film. She is one smart cookie when it comes to the industry she grew up in, that's my point. When we heard about her a few months ago, and we all looked at those websites, it looked like she would be cast in the role that Kelly or Stacey is playing. Thankfully, she actually seems pretty grounded, confident and natural in front of the cameras (adding to her appeal). And look, regardless of the Front End arrangements, the process of filming resembles a Social Experiment, and it is possible, even likely that genuine and intense feelings develop in that setting.

As of this moment, I am so completely bored with Amanda (which is probably solely due to her edit). CAG4roses posted that a condition is exploited, and it is sad ... I totally agree. Amanda's meeps being the center of her storyline doesn't support an all american girl theme, or a romantic theme. Last week during the discussion with the girls in the house, Amanda sitting on the couch looking so stressed, and the highlighted meeps ... if she has any personality whatsoever, it is sad for her that the editors have chosen not to show it and continually shown something she has no control over.

| Re: Shayne **Spoilers** All the screencaps of Matt and Ms. Preferential Treatment doing all these activities, well, it seems like more than one date but I'm no sleuther. These fantasy dates are long, they could fit a lot into them in theory. But this is a TV shoot. I suspect the progression of things is not as smooth as portrayed. They need to set up certain shots which means the couple can't just jump from one activity to another. A cameraman wasn't just conveniently sitting in a boat out at sea just in case Matt and Shayne would jump off a boat or something, and the two of them didn't just accidentally wait till sunset to stroll on the beach. All of this stuff is set up. For this alone, for how much time it takes to set up stuff, I think those may be two different dates. As for contractually agreed upon minimum screen times, yes, I think she's got that. She would be a dummy if she didn't get it down in writing. I don't think Matt could have kicked her to the curb in the first episode even had he wanted to. Lucky for him at least she's pretty enough to make it halfway believable between them, although I didn't buy it. He may have liked her enough so maybe less pretense was needed in the end. A clever casting choice on Fleiss' part. It was said upthread that Matt is just a supporting player here, and I'd have to agree. She was a nobody before this but he was an even bigger nobody, but she had the greater potential of crawling up from the bottom of the ladder. All she needed was a little push. A primetime push.
