I have been on boards where people are in on the know, and there is this attitude "I've got a secret, but you can't know" and of course it is because of the confidentiality of the source. Of course, that doesn't mean squat to the people who noses have been thumbed. The majority of those people wanted to know as well, or they wouldn't have been on the spoiler threads to start. The idea that someone appears to be playing their hunches when they are actually spinning out info from an inside source is not appreciated either. Realizing that other boards are not monitored like this one is, the basic attitude in plain and not nice terms often comes across as put up or shut up. Having been on other boards and having been on both sides of the equation (with and w/o sources), I can understand fairly well all sides of the issue. I tend to agree with the poster who suggested that if someone has concrete info ( or what appears to be) that person can give it ( minus name of source) hidden under the white thing, and anybody who is interested can click. Either that or somebody can notify well in advance by saying MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD and skipping several lines so that those who are not interested can skip those posts. These are the spoiler threads. ![]()

I can see your point about the putting major spoilers hidden so that those who don't want to see them cannot. And what about the actual "insider" that posts here? I mean cagrl4rose and others have been on and not said much in the way of spoilers. Quote:
Ok, I do have a major spoiler here -------- I have to go to work now. Just when the boards start hopping and an intersting conversation is going on. Darn it all, having to earn a living. ![]()

My inside source was closely assoiced with Moana (F2) , and she was spot on. I was teaming with another sleuther who was better than I was (because she could do all of those candles and stuff), and her main source was on Sara's side.

I think one main factor is the relationship of the poster to their source. If someone told me something and told me not to tell, I would keep it quiet. I would ask that persons permission before posting anything they told me. And if they didn't grant permission I would be a vault. I would hope for the same from others. If anyone on this board does know something more, and is keeping it on the down low, I'm totally fine with that. I'm also fine if they continue to post to further the sleuthing. Although I will say I haven't felt that it is going on here, I appreciate any and all rational viewpoints and anything that can help us put the next piece in the puzzle. ![]()

Most inside sources are more concerned about their identities being protected for at least a particular time - or at least they want it to be "generalized" - such as "a very, very close relative of so and so." I would ask the person if there was a way that I could state it in order to help other people to know the info in a way so that the insider would be comfortable. I have done that a time or two. The wording is a bigger strength to me than the measuring of shadows, etc. so, yes, I think I can say that I have come up against that and tried to aim for a compromise. Once during that critical week when Sara and Travis were trying to decide what they were going to do, the source ( who was more my partner's) asked that we be very careful how and what we said. I don't know Cal4roses. I find those posters an interesting prospect and certainly worth speculation. I have never been one to hastily discount sources. That is not to say that I believe everything that I read, but I have found out (especially from my experience with watching people on the ABC Board) that it is far too easy for folks 'to throw the baby out with the bathwater'. The internet is a huge place, and the folks on this show use the internet, and they know hundreds of people who also use the internet. Every poster, and every post is worth consideration if you are into sleuthing. jmo ![]()

| Re: Shayne **Spoilers** During Charlie O'Connell's season, I found out that Sarah W (he's prejudiced because I'm beautiful) was cut as the F3 (& there was much rejoicing!), and that Krisily and Sara B. were the final 2. I posted the Monday it aired, not neccessarily a spoiler directly on the FoRT, but that I was happy with my decision in the RC game. Anyone -- THEN -- could go look on the ABC RC game board (since I use the same username) and see who I picked. Several people PMed me that they changed their picks in the RC game because of my posting. (Not that I cared ... unless they won the grand prize instead of me ... hey, wait a minute! ![]() ) So if you have a spoiler about Shayne (et al) -- post away with those super-spoiler brackets. The people who don't want to know, won't look and the people who are curious will want to see if their detective work was correct. Eluding to the source (friend of the F1, personal knowledge, media, etc) will let those who are skeptical decide if the spoiler is truth or merely a rumor. |
