If TPTB are careful, they will cut off the thorns. And I would think they'd be very aware of this. They wouldn't want anyone to get pricked. When I was involved in a ceremony with young girls (7-8) someone arranged for a local floral company to donate roses to give them. About an hour before, when we were setting up, one of the adults said she could see 50 little girls hitting each other over the heads with roses that had thorns. The rest of us couldn't believe we hadn't thought about this. So we went to work frantically clipping all of the thorns off! From then on we used carnations. Ah, memories!

I really think the thorns are clipped. Don't remember seeing any of the bachelorettes worrying about getting pricked. Most of them just looked at the Bachelor and while raising their hand to accept the rose.

Maybe Shayne wouldn't give Matt a second glance on the street, but if he opened his mouth, who wouldn't? That brittish accent brings a lot of booty in the US. I don't know a SINGLE woman who doesn't at least moderately swoon for a guy with an accent. I know I LOVE the accent... it was THE talk here at the beginning of the season. I think Shayne, like most red blooded American women, could get a little caught up in the moment. Sure he may not be her typical, but so what? I always thought I'd marry a brunette, and I married a blond guy... It happens. Just because we think we have a "type" doesn't mean we always stick to it.

Oh, Beachmom, me too. I LOVE Hugh Grant. I know Matt said that Hugh has set brits back a bit, but Oh MY! I love the droll humor and the self deprecating humor... LOVE it! I only dated for a blip of a moment a guy from Australia and his accent completely slayed me... My oh my!

I've seen so many people use this argument and I just don't get it, so can someone please explain it to me? Is there some code for a 22-year-old actress living in Hollywood that they must date a certain type of guy? And if there is, it obviously hasn't worked for Shayne. What's the problem with trying something different? That's how I met my fiance

I can't speak for soccermama and anyone else that may have alluded to thinking Matt and Shayne may not be a good match. I happen to think that people with completely different backgrounds can work, BUT I just don't see it happening with these two. Not only is Shayne a 22-year-old actress living in Hollywood, but Matt is a 27-year-old "global financier" living in London. From his interviews, it doesn't seem like he wants to move to the U.S. full-time. It just would be really difficult for Shayne to maintain her livelihood and a relationship with Matt. Matt also says that he wants to settle down and have children soonish, and Shayne has said she is not ready to settle down quite yet. I don't blame her. She's a beautiful girl living in Hollywood and is only 22. However, maybe she and Matt are MFEO. If they think so, I hope they are happy together!
