Absolutely not! I think Chelsea has a mannerism where she finds it difficult in intiimte situations to look that person in the eye. Even when she was talking to Matt's mum she wasn't entirely looking her in the eye. The painful fact is that the body language from someone who is uncomfortable looking someone in the eyes reads as "not sincere" or "not believable" hence Matt's mum seeing the same thing. After watching her for weeks I do believe her because she *can* look people in the eyes when she is not in a vulnerable situation. I think when this girl is in an intimate situation she finds it *very* hard to express herself.

Shoulder out reads as avoidance whereas shoulder in would have read as affectionate and cuddling. Matty boy didn't seem to impressed that she said that Chelsea had no class. He rolls his tongue around in his mouth while looking around plus he looks to go red in the cheeks. Cut: producers tell them to smile more; laugh more; cuddle more. Action! Shayne looks to zone off while he is talking about the ring then remembers the ring. I do believe that he picked that ring *for* Shayne and that he wasn't humming and hawwing at the end as to who to pick. There is more smiles and more laughter. Then, shoulder in this time, Matt rubs her right shoulder, they are all cuddly and smiling.

Trying to make up his mind when he picked out the ring? Right . . . I think the producers picked out the ring for Shayne. Now that these two are making the media circuit I can really see the disconnect between them. It's almost like they're sitting there trying to think about how to act like they're a couple. It just seems so awkward. I don't see any affection; in fact, I see resentment and bitterness on both sides.

Matt seemed like a nice guy at the beginning of this farce. Maybe he'll be able to put this behind him someday and "regain" some of that personality. Or maybe Hollywood's gotten to him and he'll never be the same!

When you compare that Ellen interview, with other similar interviews from the past, there is a marked difference between the couple that was just on Ellen and other 'somewhat' successful couples. Andy and Tessa. Trista and Ryan. Byron and Mary. Meredith and Ian. These couples couldn't keep their hands off of each other. In fact, the reuniting of Meredith and Ian was downright steamy and it was almost like they forgot that someone was interviewing them. So, yes, it's confusing to me watching them interact as a newly engaged couple and not seeing the kind of interaction that one would expect to see. Completely confusing; particularly when what we have to compare it with is her draped on his back or his front...always cuddled with him. Why not even a snuggle now? What happened to 'Monkey?'
Lynn thank you for explaining. I too saw what you saw and you know I am almost deaf and I work in the medical field as well. Body language sometimes overstate words. Facial movements (grimacing and others), posturing, body gestures, use of hands and many other ways that we communicate other than oral say more than what is verbally being said. I believe to an extent, maybe I am wrong, in normal individuals (not actors professionally trained) it is very difficult to stop the normal body communication in conjuction with the words and change them unless trained. Don't toss the tomatoes, just my opinion.

I am not trying to oppose either Shayne or Chelsea, I just remove my feelings from the situation and watch, which I believe is how Lynn addresses it. For others who are not deaf or hoh, try re-watching and those clips abovementioned without sound. It might help.

Thank you both for your insights. Because I listen to what they say, I forget to actually see their gestures, etc., so its easy to be taken in. I appreciate your point of view, it opens my eyes to other possibilities.

Ummm I should have finished catching up in reading because I just repeated what Lynn answered but I still feel the same way. Body Language can replace words. Thank you so much Lynn for your insight. I have enjoyed reading your posts and agree with them, what you see is what I see. I remove any personal feelings and watch the body talk.

Michelle :-)

Thanks for the welcome. I've been at Fort about a month. I can't believe how much in years past I missed, with all the sleuthing, and especially this thread of the Body, Face, etc. It has opened a whole new world for me, not only to this show, but to the world in general with body language reading. To see what others see, just not what we hear, is a learning experience. It has been very helpful here at TB, as the words say one thing, and then their body language is the opposite. It's no wonder there are so many opinions on love story vs scripted outcome. I think you gals body reading ability have the edge on the true story.

I agree ProudKsGrandma -I love this thread too, so much insight. The ladies that provide the body language reading is much appreciated. Some have scoffed at it, as they think we all can read body language, and although that's true in the really obvious cases of sneers and folded arms LOL it's the more subtle indications that the HOH can pick up on, as it's so important to them in daily life.

The body language readers have been most helpful in these latest interviews of the couple. I was still hoping this would evolve to a love story, but most times, especially with Matt, I'm not seeing it. His arm is on the furniture, with his hand loose, not on her arm, he could be sitting closer, etc. For new lovebirds, it doesn't seem real lovey dovey now, especially in light of all the kissy, hands on we saw during TB.
