You can't have it both ways - either it's a fake and a set-up with no real connection (other than looking for publicity), or it's a real connection.

I'm getting confused as to how posters are flip-flopping here - they want to talk about what a fake farce it was, then they want to slam "Shayme" by wondering what her "future in-laws" will think.....if it's a farce, she won't be marrying their son, if it is something for them to be concerned about, then it isn't a fake......people need to make up their minds as to which scenario it is and not go beating a dead horse.

JMHO.

The thing is, it doesn't matter if it is a sham or not. ABC, Fleiss, Matt and Shayne are saying that this is real. That the engagement is real and that they plan on getting married. The average viewer knows that this is (supposed to be) real. So now we have Shayne in not one but two magazines showing what little bit of class she really has and that is a very REAL embaressment to Matt's family. Shayne made a very stupid decision to do the spread for GGW. Matt's family would have probably never seen the GGW spread except for the fact that People picked up on it and did an article about it. Yea, that's class baby!!!

Great interview, I love that she, Amanda, Noelle and Holly are good friends. They do come way with something good, at least.

She sounds fine to me, very upbeat and happy.

I'm thinking the GGW spread is the reason for no ATFR this season. What a fairy tale this turned out to be..........NOT!

Unlike Matt. There is a noticable difference in his interviews done without Shayne and his interviews with Shayne. His condescension is eclipsing his wit.

I agree! Chelsea was also very gracious in her interview and she was even able to say Matt's name, lol!

Matt can learn a thing or 2 from her...

BINGO. You took the words right out of my mouth. So I'm supposed to believe that Matt and Shayne concocted this whole fake engagement scheme AND they failed to let Matt's parents in on the sham? I mean there are a lot of things I can suspend my belief on..but seriously that is pretty reaching IMO.

Yep, I'd sure love to hear some of those stories. I don't doubt but that there was an element of her going along with the company (ABC) line about a possible marriage. I think she's figured out that Matt was all about breaking into show biz. Chelsea was a tad on the wild side for me, but she comes across as a nice person and definitely seems to be truthful. I sure wish her well.

lol, there's a movie called "Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe" that's based on just such a bold promise! I guess my attitude falls somewhere between farce/sham and undying love and marriage. I'd say the situation was heavily weighted in Shayne's favor, and there are benefits to both in terms of publicity....but unlikely as the two may seem, complete with red flags flapping in the breeze, I also believe they're in love. Will there ever be a wedding? That's what engagement is for, to work out the details.

Shane's thinking that they'll have homes in London, LA, and New York. Is it really as easy and cushy as all that? Matt's not rushing back to work just yet, while they figure things out. That leaves it to Shane to provide for them, at least for now.
