Being attractive serves as a natural advantage in life. People just tend to respond more favorably to those who are beautiful, and to give them what they want. This is because, hey, you never know, a beautiful person might just sleep with you if you keep it up with that favorable responding. And as the old maxim goes, "A person who doesn't give preferential treatment to a hottie dies a thousand death, but a person who got to sleep with a hottie dies but one."

Of course, this leads to little resistance in the life of a beautiful person, and without challenges or adversity, the souls and potential talents of those who are blessed with looks tend to wither and die. That, or the beautiful person overcompensates by trying to be extra nice and humble, and also trying new things with gusto, and all that can be pretty insufferable, too. Life is rough!

Now, most people who take care of themselves are attractive in some way or another, and everybody has days when they are just 'on' and things work out for them. But there is a certain category of "beautiful" that, if a person is in it, they will meet with absolutely no resistance in their lifetime outside of getting their run on General Hospital extended past 18 episodes.

Shayne Lamas is in this category. And it certainly does not help that she is the daughter of someone else who is also in this category. But now she is doing her best to find true love, ABC-style. Although it doesn't help there that she was the only bachelorette this season to issue a press release about her appearance on the show.

Really, though, she doesn't NEED any help. Even in the ideal numbers situation of 24 single attractive women (and a token crazy) doing their best to impress you, it is still your job to impress a girl like Shayne. ABC has done all the heavy lifting for current The Bachelor Matt Grant by paying Shayne's per diem, but Grant still has to maintain a modicum of interest from Shayne, same as Brad had to for Bettina and Travis had to for Sarah. Then, after the overnight dates with the final three bachelorettes (Amanda R., Erin H. and Shayne), Grant can cut her, because impressing beautiful people after you have slept with them is exhausting and not that lucrative.

When you really think about it, the point is that the most beautiful person in the room will consistently finish third, both on The Bachelor and in life.

To me, the negative tone to the description of Shayne's actions suggests she'll be getting the highly emotional edit. We've seen it most recently with Bevin, but Moana got a version of that edit as well.

I know Tessa ran off and cried in the second episode of her season, but that was with doubts not because she thought she 'ruined her chances', or at least that's how I remember the scene.

At first glance, though, it sounds like a "falling too fast" or "very emotional" edit for Shayne. Hopefully they don't go anywhere near the "slightly psycho" Big Sarah edit from Charlie's season.

After Last season I swore I wouldn't watch this anymore, what a sucker I am. The first episode aired on the 17th right? I am not sure what a press release is exactly, but I saw an article in the New York Post, dated March 14th about Lamas Daughter. Sir links alot has it listed.

Will Holland native win the heart of 'The Bachelor'?

Keeping track of 25 women is not easy, so the show was on in the background as I did some things around the house, and then I went back and forth between "The Bachelor" and Fox's 10 p.m. news. It wasn't until this morning that I heard one of the bachelorettes vying for a rose each week is 2003 Holland High School grad Robin Canfield!

We'll be busy today working on a story for tomorrow's paper, but in the meantime, I can tell you have that we have quite an extensive file on Robin, who is now an advertising coordinator living in Orlando, Fla.

As a student, she was pretty active in the local theater and music community. In 2002 and 2003, the violinist won the Holland Symphony Orchestra's annual Norbert Mueller Memorial Concerto Competition. Also in 2003, she was recognized as one of The Grand Rapids Press's 100 Superstar Seniors.

Robin Canfield's photo from ABC.comBut how will she do on "The Bachelor," which last year started slow in the ratings but bounced back to garner $13 million viewers -- and win its time slot over "Heroes" -- during its May finale?

Ten women on Monday night's premiere were eliminated. And Robin was one of 15 women to get a rose from the hunky Brit.

What's in store for the next show, which airs at 10 p.m. Monday on ABC-TV?

The summary reads: "Matt doesn't wait long to bestow his first kiss, as the women attempt to out-strut each other as models in a sexy fashion show and taste the high life with a sizzling group date in Las Vegas."

OK, Robin. West Michigan will be watching.

Your welcome Blondie!

The Bachelor 12 ~ Episode Description ~ April 7, 2008

Nine bachelorettes remain, and Matt takes one of them on a 1950s-themed date at Santa Monica Pier. He cooks dinner for two others (one gets a rose for dessert), and it's an afternoon of tennis and tea for the other six. At the end of the hour, three are eliminated.

Aha! I wondered if Shayne was on the tennis date. That made sense since it seemed like the cooking date was a 2:1.

Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers

Hey, new poster, long time lurker here. I just read this at eonline.com from Ted C.

Desk Hookup called. See, our insider over at The Bachelor: London Calling (It's dubious the Clash had any say in lending their song title over to a televised dating competish) gave us some hints to picking this year's winner, since all the eps have already been filmed and edited. If ya like your reality TV with suspense and mystery, consider this your spoiler alert. Otherwise, call your Bachelor bookie ASAP!

Turns out the winner of British boy-toy Matt Grant's (how Mr. Darcy-esque is that name?) affections is a flaxen-haired honey who "works in the Industry." Big shocker, eh? Way to narrow down the dolls. I bet every babe on the show considers herself an actress and/or model in one way or another, prolly since she's good-lookin' enough to score a sweet spot on the boob tube. When's the shy, mousy kindergarten teach gonna snag some reality TV ass?
