No, I think many of us see the humor in that, and I suspect the writer was laughing out loud as it was typed.

I saw your comment in the Shayne thread just now as well. I think that we can not put any kind of weight onto his post show interviews (ones that he is doing now before the end of the show). Fleiss has scripted him as to what he can and can not say. Matt can not give specific clues that are going to point to one particular woman. TPTB have to make sure that people watch until the very end.

The only interview I really take into consideration is the one where he said his parents advised him all through out the process. They never told him who to pick or not pick; just they kept reminding him things like the physical attraction is only good for a while, (not verbatim just what I remember). I think they kept him from falling blindly in love and gave him feedback that helped him find a long term relationship. KNowing that, I figure he may have been overwhelmed a few times with some of the girls, but he wasn't blindly swept away.

I think that is why he is happy with his choice, he really does think he found a good match - whether that holds up depends on how they work things out and their degree of commitment. Ryan and Trista make it work (as they have said) and they are committed to it.

You never know.
My husband's family has an unusual surname. They may have changed spelling and thus pronunciation when his ancestors came to the USA. Coupled with the fact that my husband talks fast, I could not understand what the heck his last name was when we first dated.
When he was taking his driver's license out of his wallet, I took a peek and was able to see the spelling and figure out the correct name. Fortunately this was long long ago--not yesterday.

re: pronunciation scenes..again...could this be more contrived??? this scene just didn't feel real to me at all, neither does cleared out restaurant with low ceilings....

it looks like it is taking place on some hollywood set/sound stage thing even though they have her dad walking up to it.....
