| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers Reality romance British financier Matt Grant meets Oklahoma City’s Carri Perrier for the first time on the season premiere of “The Bachelor: London Calling.” By RITA SHERROW World Television Editor 3/17/2008 OKC woman will vie for the love of British ‘Bachelor’ When British financier Matt Grant comes calling on the season premiere of “The Bachelor,” it may be an Oklahoman who snags his heart. Carri Perrier, described in ABC press information as a 25-year-old church marketing representative from Oklahoma City, will be among the 25 American women vying for Grant’s heart in the 12th edition of ABC’s romance reality series “The Bachelor: London Calling.” It debuts at 8:32 p.m. Monday on channel 8. The winner of numerous beauty pageants, Perrier has competed as a singer and supported platforms including suicide prevention and the national Girl Power campaign. In the 2007 Miss Oklahoma Pageant, Perrier, as Miss Bricktown Oklahoma City, won the $1,000 Miss America Community Service Award andwasnamedatop10 finalist. A resident of Bartlesville, she was then a graduate student at Oklahoma City University, according to a Tulsa World article. She was also a finalist in the 2006 Miss Oklahoma Pageant where she was Miss Bricktown OKC, and competed in the 2005 pageant representing Sooner State and the 2004 pageant as Miss Frontier Country. Also in 2005, she was chosen as Centennial Homecoming Queen at Oklahoma City University, according to her sorority’s (Alpha Phi) magazine. Perrier was Miss Oklahoma National TeenAger 2001 and a semifinalist in the Miss National TeenAger competition. The Oklahoman joins a cast that includes the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas (and granddaughter of Fernando Lamas and Arlene Dahl), a diva who makes her own gowns, a singer-songwriter, a know-it-all everyone loves to hate, a blonde with a mysterious family past and one out-of-control woman who has few, if any, inhibitions. “However, few could rival Carri and her rare and dramatic ability to bite a tin can in half — a talent she readily demonstrates to the ‘Bachelor,’ ” according to an ABC statement. As in seasons past, the women will move into plush accommodations for the duration of the series. On Monday night, Grant, 27, will send 10 women home, leaving 15 to compete for his affection. The women will continue to be eliminated each week. In a new twist, a woman can decide she’s no longer interested in the Bachelor, and can reject his invitation to continue dating. A few lucky women will meet his family, and he will visit their hometowns in an effort to determine the woman with whom he is most compatible. The series moves to its regular time slot of 9 p.m. Mondays starting March 24. Chris Harrison returns as host of the series. Tulsa World: Reality romance

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers British 'Bachelor' calls from London RICK PORTER Matt Grant, 27, is a global financier from London and the first international "Bachelor." Now that "The Bachelor" is about to enter its 12th incarnation (at 9:30 tonight), there's really only one question to ask the guy who's searching for love among 25 casting director-picked women: Why? Why, given the trail of unsuccessful relationships on a show that's supposed to be about finding love, would any man want to subject himself to that? The snarky answer for Matt Grant, the 27-year-old at the center of "The Bachelor: London Calling," would be "because he hasn't seen the show before." Grant, a Londoner who admits to not having known much about it before he was cast, is more optimistic than that. "If you always go by track records, life can be pretty dull. I know, OK, if I was a betting man that obviously I'm going to bet on the horse that's won lots of races, not one that has not," Grant says. "But this isn't a betting game. This is life, and this is actually me. Those previous guys weren't me. "I was confident that I could come on to this and be myself, and I was hoping therefore that there would be one person who would be that standout ... someone who has those unique qualities. And you know, I just am not too fussed about the track record of the show." Happily for Bachelor fans -- who were mighty peeved when the last guy, Brad Womack, rejected both of the final two women -- Grant says he has, in fact, found love via the show. In a conference call with reporters last week from his home in London, the affable Brit also talked about what he was looking for, living in the United States and what comes next. Highlights of the conversation: On what he was looking for: "I've always liked hairy women ... so I guess that was the main thing for me. The hairier the better. "You know, going in, really –- the one thing I was really interested in was just someone who's going to make me laugh. More than I just made you laugh with that terrible joke. So, you know, yes, it's just that fun factor. Someone who'd stand out. Someone that walks in a room and you just think, 'You've got something a bit different.' That's what I was really looking for." Did he find it? "Yes. That's the most important thing, right? I definitely found love and yes, (the women) lived up to my expectations. It was incredible. I'm still buzzing from it now." Why he likes American women: "A lot of different reasons, really. At a very young age ... my next brother Simon, who lived in the States for a few years in Washington State, he brought back an American girl who must have been about 18 (or) 19 for Christmas one year. She was sort of very fun, outgoing, very attractive, and great with the family. And I think from that point onward, I always had a bit of soft spot for American women. ... "They seem to be a little bit more outgoing than British women. ... I'm going to refer to them as European women and then I'm not specifically knocking British women. (Laughs) But yeah, more outgoing -- I love the balance of that fun and flirtiness. And also, just the fact that, you know, I love sports, and all the women seem to be more kind of understanding of sports in the States than the U.K. and I love that about American women as well." Pleasant surprises: "The most surprising thing, I think, was just simply how much I enjoyed the time in the States. You know, considering that -- I was concerned with lack of sleep, I was concerned with not being able to get on the gym everyday, and you know, (the show is) constant, non-stop -- it's intense. "I did have concerns, but I was surprised how -- well I guess how much I sort of fell in love with the U.S., really. I thought maybe I might get fed up with the food or -- you notice that when you go abroad somewhere. ... (Laughs) I think I was in a privileged position so (compared to) the average tourist. ... "I didn't expect there'd be so much (to do) there. So I mean, that was the thing that I really loved the most, the amount of different things I got done in such a short time. But because everything was concentrated and compounded so much, it's almost like the six, seven weeks of filming seemed more like, you know, six, eight, nine months, if that makes sense -- just like time goes tenfold." Who's moving where: "It takes two to tango, doesn't it? It's not up me, it's up to us. So we'll discuss it. Either country is great. They've both got their unique selling points, and I think they're two of the best countries in the world, having been to both of them and been around the world a lot as well. ... Either way it'll be a winner. I just need to discuss it with the other one." Charlotte Observer | 03/17/2008 | British 'Bachelor' calls from London

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers The HeldenFiles - One Conversation I Would Have Eavesdropped On By Rich Heldenfels Beacon Journal popular culture writer More Local Reality. On ABC's The Bachelor: London Calling, one of the bachelorettes is Akron native — and former Suffield resident — Holly Durst. Durst, who was not available for interviews before the series premiere, is identified by ABC as a children's book author now living in Hollywood. She also looks a great deal like a Holly Durst who a year ago was dating singer Justin Guarini. Durst did not make a big impression in a preview of tonight's Bachelor (the preview did not include the final rose ceremony). But that's not a bad thing, considering how outrageously some other bachelorettes act to impress Matt Grant, the London financier who is the first Bachelor star not from the United States. | Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers Chicago contestant gets a Brit bawdy on 'Bachelor' debut Posted at 11 p.m. Sunday, March 16 I'm thinking Stacey will not be getting one of bachelor Matt's roses. I was prepared to write about how hunky the new bachelor with a British accent is on ABC’s “The Bachelor: London Calling.” Then I saw Stacey, a 26-year-old graduate student living in Chicago. “Stacey kind of freaked me out …,” Matt Grant, the 27-year-old Brit bachelor, says late in the debut episode, airing at 7 p.m. Monday. And how. Miss Thing knows how to liven up a party—and a boring premiere episode. If you’ve ever seen the first episode of a new season of the reality show, you know the set-up. Viewers are introduced to the new bachelor; then the bachelor is introduced to 25 gorgeous women who will be vying for his affections. He checks out their butts as they walk away from him. The group begins their courtship with a little cocktail party in which he spends time with each of the women and they try to impress him in various ways. It's not very exciting stuff really, kind of like sitting at a bar watching women—or men —hit on your buddies and not you. Unless something really crazy happens, you can go get another drink.Enter crazy—I mean Stacey. Stacey appears to drink too many cocktails at the party. She snort-laughs to her own apparently blue jokes. She falls—twice—dropping what looks to be a shot. Damn girl, be careful with those drinks! “There’s always that one token nut bag,” one of the women says of our gal. “She’s loud, belligerent, tasteless, tacky, classless,” Marshana adds. “She’s just a bad boob job, a sequined blue dress and a trashy tramp stamp,” says Erin H., describing Stacey’s tattoo, among other things. And those are the descriptive words I can print here. “He’s going to melt into my arms,” Stacey says. “He’s up for a little surprise.” She proceeds to stuff her underwear down his pants, then gives him a full-on lip-lock and walks away to … wherever it is the camera catches her face down, snoring. I won’t say she passes out, but it sure looks that way. “I’m sorry, but that is not cool—all right?—in any kind of way,” says Matt, who doesn’t seem like he’d be easily appalled. “I don’t give a [bleep] what country you’re from. Right?” ABC didn’t let critics see which 14 women remain on the show after Monday’s rose ceremony, but I’m pretty sure Stacey will be packing her bags. RedEye | Show Patrol

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers New British 'Bachelor' 'In Love' Unlike Other Reality Matchmaking Shows, Matt Grant's Trying to Keep It Classy Once upon a time, there was a show called "The Bachelor." After 12 seasons, it is still waiting for its happy ending. Photos Hottest Bachelor Wants Hotness and Humor Many a dewy rose — and a few engagement rings — have been doled out to ladies in waiting, but so far none of ABC's "bachelors" have found lasting love with the women they met in the show's bubbling hot tubs. (Only the first star of "The Bachelorette," Trista Rehn, wedded her TV pick, Ryan Sutter.) The franchise's newest prince, 27-year-old global financier Matt Grant, hopes to change all that with "The Bachelor: London Calling," debuting Monday night. "I'm in love," Grant said in his British accent. "That's all you need to know." Viewers have heard that one before. But before you balk, perhaps this strapping Londoner deserves a chance. After all, he is the first International "Bachelor"! At the very least, he's not just another American guy. "I'm not bothered about previous shows," Grant said. "I'm bothered about myself and 'the one.' I think we have what it takes. I really do." "The One" is how Grant now refers to the woman he fell for on "The Bachelor." He's unable, of course, to speak her real name, urging us — daring us — to watch the drama unfold onscreen. And unfold it does. "I had a thong pushed down my pants," Grant said. "At first I thought it was like a message on a napkin or something … that was pretty gross." (The thong incident comes courtesy of a bachelorette named Stacey, who proudly declares that she is "all that and a bag of chips." ) Of course, anyone who watches reality TV knows that Grant's got it easy. On VH1's "Rock of Love 2," Poison rocker Bret Michaels is subjected to half-naked women gyrating to get his attention as he searches for his supposed soul mate (for the second time). Rapper Flavor Flav's three seasons of reality TV romance on "Flavor of Love," also on VH1, have been replete with hair-extension pulling and high-pitched shrieking. But "The Bachelor" started the trend of reality matchmaking shows, and Grant's trying to keep things classy. With his fondness for American women somehow still intact, Grant describes his "chosen one" as "an exceptional individual" with depth, substance, warmth and sincerity Grant will be missing those attributes while he is kept apart from his new girlfriend. He's contractually bound to remain mum about the outcome of the show until the finale of "The Bachelor: London Calling." There is presumably an ocean between them, but that doesn't seem to phase Grant. Like a few "bachelors" before him, he says he is in love. "That's happiness for me," Grant said. "I hope it'll be happiness for the viewers." ABC News: This 'Bachelor' Is for Keeps

This was a hysterical article. Thanks for posting it. By the way, did anyone catch the part in bold? Is this a typo, or have we been chasing our own tails? | |

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread ~ Spoilers Cape Girardeau native Amanda Peterman will appear on "The Bachelor." Amanda Peterman was a cheerleader at Central High School in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2005 with a 4.0 GPA and a double major in journalism and fashion design. Last August she began studying law at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. She's smart, enthusiastic, persuasive and knows how to dress. But will those qualities lead a 27-year-old global financier with a British accent to choose her over 24 other women? Peterman will be a contestant when the first episode of the new season of "The Batchelor" airs at 8:30 p.m. today on ABC. The producers are careful to assure nobody finds out what happens in advance. Peterman and her family couldn't tell anyone she was involved with the show until now. She is prohibited from giving an interview until she has been eliminated from the show. Her mother Hope said used to watch the show with her daughter when Amanda lived in Cape Girardeau. Last fall Amanda phoned and said she and her roommate were going to interview for "The Bachelor" "for the fun of it." She got in, and a wall of secrecy went up. "We couldn't tell anybody," Hope said. "We've been sworn to silence." The show's publicists promise plenty of tension in the all-important first-impression episode. Ten of the women will be gone by its end. The object of their attention is Matt Grant, a 6-foot, 5-inch businessman who claims to be crazy about American women. He says he's looking for his soul mate. Of course, according to a "Bachelor" blog, none of the previous bachelors has stayed with the woman he chose. And the women have their own ways of getting noticed. Shayne is the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas. Marshana made her own dress. Chelsea arm wrestles Matt. Ashlee sings Matt a song she wrote for him. Carri bites a tin can in half. Stacey removes her underwear and puts them in the bachelor's pocket. The publicity also singles out "Amanda, a stunning, all-American girl with a few tricks up her sleeve." Of course, both Amandas on the show are stunning and all-American. Hope said she'll be nervous watching tonight's show because she doesn't know any more about what happens than any other viewer. She's also proud of her daughter. "I am thrilled that she would go for it," Hope said. http://www.semissourian.com/apps/pbc...5815/-1/news01
