"Escapade" I think is the perfect description of that whole set up! With Shayne, it's like watching Brittany or Paris or Lindsay or whomever the flavor of the day is. No wonder the ratings are going down. Each ep has been built around Shayne and her reactions. If she's not your cup of tea, there really isn't much left in the show to keep you tuned in.

I'm a coffee drinker myself! I'm really getting tired of the pouty looks Shayne keeps giving Matt. I hope they aren't working, but I've known a guy or two in my days who were suckers for those.

I really dont think the editing was so heavy handed in the past. I felt like I was getting to know a group of women along side the Bachelor. I dont feel that he is getting to know anybody except for Shayne. And I blame the editing. Andrew Firestone's season didnt feel like this. Nor did Charlie's. Yup - they are indeed getting the ratings they deserve.

I kind of feel like I got to know a couple of the girls as well as Matt before the show started as there were people posting little details about them. Some of them were certainly in the know based on what they revealed. So, I don't feel like I don't know anything about anyone other than Shayne.

I agree the editing isn't giving us much to work with though.

But your average viewer wouldnt know any of this. And the editing practices have changed.

I have to agree. Each season seems to be getting more and more episodes chopped and glued back together harem scarem, with this season being the biggest hatchet job yet.
I think the 60 minute format has caused a lot of the train wreck.

The lack of media attention to this season, especially by ABC speaks volumes to me. I really don't think ABC is interested in this show anymore. The Bachelors are always tools looking for publicity for their various agendas. I don't really watch Regis and Kelly anymore, do they still do a bachelor discussion on Tuesday morning? I remember Kelly had a board with the girl's pics and would put red "x"s over their faces when they were sent home. I remember Kelly really mocked the show too. I very rarely hear Elisabeth from the View talking about the show Tuesday mornings. I think she has talked about it once so far this season. And she is supposedly a huge fan of the show. And what about Jimmy Kimmel?? I think by the ABC talk shows not having Matt on their shows they are telling Fleiss his days may be numbered on ABC. I wonder if that is why we are seeing VH1/MTV antics this season.. Is this show heading to cable? From SCs that we never saw on Disney owned ABC, I'd say the Bachelor is just a few steps away from Rock of Love on VH1. My hubby was upset when he didn't see the lap dances and body shots.. how do you think I enticed him to watch this season?

And even with Shayne on this season, I don't think she has added anything more than the other B'ettes. I have checked the various popular blogs, and there is no mention of Shayne Lamas on The Bachelor. I wrote to one blog about Shayne, and I got an e-mail back saying they didn't care...it wasn't really celebrity news. LOL!! Oh well.

Oh well.. sorry to go on.. and on. I like the F3 girls. My favorite is Amanda, but I don't think I care as much this season. I think this season is a little boring. It does feel staged.. kind of like watching a soap opera. Maybe they are all acting? Whomever wins Matt's heart I'll be smiling. As long as I don't watch a tool in the making pacing back and forth like a cartoon character I'll be a happy viewer. And I will be patiently waiting for May 19!

That is a RIOT!!!! Wow...I bet Shayne's publicist would have a stroke over that one. OMG!

I was a 'Nielson family' for Tivo for a year and that was over 3 yrs ago. I was told that they'd upload something onto our box and it would keep track of which shows we watched and once a week, the box would transmit the information back to them. [Talk about Big Brother watching over us.] But I'm always interested in ratings, so I was okay with it.

Now, though, I've read that most networks aren't counting tivo'd shows in their ratings. Which, really, is a shame b/c we still choose to tivo all our shows so we don't have to watch the commercials.

Whenever I think about that "tool pacing back and forth like a cartoon character" I just wanna belt out Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea. He would have made a great Pepto commercial.

The whole point of the ratings is to sell the commercials! So, it makes perfect sense that they would not include the shows tivoed.

Perhaps with the low success stories emanating from The Bachelor, and then with the fiasco of TBTWNBN'ed, we are all jaded to a happy ending, and therefore with Matt being from England, and Shayne being an actress, it just stirs the non-trusting pot.

Wouldn't it be funny tho, if there is a love story unfolding before our very eyes, and we fail to see it based on our feelings that Matt really isn't looking for a wife to take to England, and the bachelorettes aren't really looking to marry someone who lives in England. Stranger things have happened.

My best girlfriend, who is a movie producer met a man (11 years younger than her) at a party in New York, who happened to live in England. She went to England for a holiday, and married him after knowing him for 2 weeks. They have a daughter in college now.
