Why IS Fleiss still the producer of The Bachelor? It's not like he's been a hotshot success for awhile now. I think Bach. 10 did pretty well, but the fiasco of last season SHOULD have been the end, if not of the show, of Fleiss' tenure. He has set himself up for failure over and over--in the structure and execution of the dating format, in the editing, in his clear lack of knowledge of what his demographic finds entertaining. I really think Fleiss has little regard for women and I would be willing to bet that he's held court in production meetings and made snarky remarks about his viewers. He's certainly hinted, by the way he edits the girls, that this is his attitude. His choice of bachelors is also so, so suspect that it's practically a template for what kind of guys NOT to date.

Am I naive? Is the American viewing public really so jaded that it prefers a trainwreck to a romance? I shudder to think it's Stacey's panties, Kelly's boobs and Marshana's tirade that makes them tune in. The current ratings say they aren't. Given the current Google ratings, it seems THE FORT is more responsible for viewers than any ABC promotion. How many of us would still be watching if we weren't sleuthing or lurking here?

I will admit to being a sucker for a love story. I'm even okay with not all of the relationships lasting; given the road the show allows them to travel, couples are set up to fail.

Bottom line for me, Fleiss needs to be replaced by a woman, if it's not already too late.

Great post Tiger Pride Mom . Every time I read one of his interviews, I tell myself that he has no business producing a show about Love and Romance .

I am of the opinion that the bachelor is one of them filler shows. If it's a success that's okay if not so be it. ABC doesn't use it as a guide for a successful season.

I don't believe anyone on those other boards think that Shayne is a set up in any way either. I didn't see her sense of humor in the second episode but I sure did see it in the 3rd!

I agree completely and just want to add that I think from the previews of the ski trip we will see a more mature Shayne serving as mediator between Chelsea and Marshana. She has a lot more going for her then what we have seen so far. If Fleiss is a friend of the family, I am certain we will see more golden qualities of Shayne's personality.

As to the other boards - well, I left a number of them to come here because I long ago felt they had been taken over by teens who can sometimes be immature and act out for their own personal attention and/or speak from jealousy.

I think the problem with the ratings and the show are that when people go to see a" musical",they expect a musical,with singing and dancing....

when they tune into see a romance show..they expect to see some type of real romance develop..not some kind of "farce-ical" with spray tanning and belly shots..

This show does seem to be getting more and more contrived and directed instead of "reality". After I suggested a friend watch it, the feedback that I got was, "The show looked fake, and it seemed like they were acting on it".
By the way, I like the new word used above..."farce-ical". That's a good one!

I don't think Fleiss can be replaced by a woman. From what I understand, (correct me if I'm wrong), its his show and he's the money behind it.
