Just because she collects shoes, watches and accessories doesn't make her materialistic. Materialism, to me, means an obsession with owning things. If she's a collector of shoes and purses, so what?

I'll bet many people on the board collect something and probably own MANY of those things. What about comic book collectors. Would you say they were materialistic? How about someone who collects boyd's bears? What about people who own 200+ movies... Are they materialistic?

I don't think owning a lot of shoes makes Shayne materialistic any more than I think Jay Leno owning a lot of cars makes him materialistic. Perhaps we should look at her as a collector instead of a glutton.

LOL- your post would've been my definition of materialistic.

Materialistic (to me) means caring about 'things' whether they be purses, cars, comic books, etc., etc. [And, yes, I would totally say Jay Leno is materialistic with his cars!] They have a hobby or a possession that helps to define who they are.

While I have nice clothes, drive an expensive car, and 'live the American dream', it doesn't make up WHO I am. You could take them all away and I'd still be the same person I was before I gained them.

Materialistic people aren't like that-- they wouldn't DIE if they couldn't tan, they'd learn to deal with it. They would prefer to first have nice clothes on their backs before they went out and spent money on watches, shoes, purses, etc, etc. And if they lost them all in a heartbeat, they realize that it's more important to be who you are than to focus on what they'd lost.

Does that make sense?

For example-- Hollywood stars spend uber amounts of money on their lavish weddings. Why? Because they're being materialistic. They could spend a quarter of that money, just like the average Joe, but they decide they want 'things' to make it the wedding of their dreams so they go above and beyond and that's materialistic.

Sorry, Shayne's sweet, but she's also materialistic.

I think that I would describe Shayne as a typical 22 year old 'girlie girl' - most of which have oodles and oodles of 'stuff' (clothes/accessories/shoes, etc.....) - a bit materialistic in some ways - but not necessarily in all ways.

I thought the ladies who weren't cut yet were not supposed to talk about the show with anyone? I don't think she gave away anything. Shayne could be saying he won't be disappointed with the outcome because it's between two wonderful ladies, Chelsea and Amanda. OR she could be saying that he won't be disapointed because she is the final 1. It can go either way IMO.

According to cupcakes article ( Thank you cupcake, interesting indeed), I agree it can go "either way". But according to the other interview , where he talks about what his chosen girl is like there is" no way" it's Shayne. In fact Shayne ( although she is georgeous ,and I'm sure a great gal IRL) is the opposite of what he describes. JMO

It was more her wording when she says"No regrets" and that he really "Was an amazing guy ", comments that made me think she had moved on and was talking about it in the past tense..Just my read on it..seems like she was very laid back about it for someone who could be so" in Love"and talked about how she didn't like her"edit" last week.. as if it was just a "show" or part for her

It probably was . most of these girls come away with that same feeling. I think they are glad they were able to make new friendships. Many of the girls from past seasons are still very friendly.
