Yes, but even if it was a gift, why would that book be given? Just food for thought, MAYBE.

This is totally off the wall. He is an ER doctor and deals with death and last rights. He may have it because of an incident in ER and he wanted to know what is the right way to deal with it.

Didn't someone make a point earlier in the spoiler thread that Sarah's mom wore a cross?

I love thinking stuff might be clues.

Reminds me of the "Mole", but also, clues we've been given before like matching bracelets, verbal hints and stuff. Good fun!

Oh, this may fit into my theory. I was raised Protestant and didn't wear a cross until being married to a Catholic, so I see it as a Catholic thing. I know that this isn't necessarily true, but it could be positive sign for SS, if she is indeed Catholic. Didn't she go to a private high school? Maybe Catholic?

The show's format, of course, guarantees that adverse selection will take place for all participants. Beautiful people who have their lives together just won't feel any need to sign those lives away to ABC in exchange for a little (potentially very negative) TV exposure. They had to beg Travis to do it, after all. So they are highly likely to end up with a cast of physically attractive but otherwise defective people.

It's more fun that way for us, though.

It just boggles the mind really, that any sane people would apply to be on the Bachelor/ette. A person cannot become a celebrity by being on this show, however their chances of becoming an object of ridicule and being recognized on the street for all the wrong reasons, is much greater. Some actually come out looking good, but they are the exception (Meredith, Jerry and a few others come to mind).
But I guess they must see being on TV as the great reward, and they don't even have to wear a weird Halloween costume or sing for it badly, like on American Idol

Actually, the report of him having books on languages is also interesting because he clearly had no idea how to pronounce a single word in French while filming the show. I bet he definitely got those books recently, probably soon after watching the date with Susan and trying to navigate into Paris and communicate with the locals!

This may not mean anything, but I asked someone who studied both Christianity and Catholicism. He was under the impression, and this may not be everywhere, but that those that wear crosses usually belong to the Christian (like) Church and those that wear crucifxes usually belong to the Catholic Church.

I think that's a good summation. But is that a cross or crucifix that SS' mom is wearing?
