I agree that Jen's dad is obviously edited, but I also think that he's a guy that says things that are meant to be funny, but they just fall flat. He was also probably encouraged by the producers to say something "sound bite" worthy. My sister always complains about her dh making comments like this and he's the only one laughing. Guys don't tend to have the "filter" that women have about things that you just don't say in certain situations. His comment at the get together would seem to be one of those comments. Jen's looked conveyed that "Dad I love ya, but shhhh" and Sadie's comments were both solicited by a handler and valid points. I don't think she was being cranky. There are some elephants in some living rooms that just never need to be discussed.

Jen even says her dad is "crazy, but in a good way". I think he is just an out spoken type of guy who isn't going to change his ways just to please a tv show. Unfortunately this is just what the tv producers are hoping for and will use every bit handed to them.

I used to have a dad like Jen's, and he was funny, but I'm sure he could have been easily butchered by editing to look buffoonish as they seem to be doing to Jen's dad.
