| Yeah, I've begun to feel that way, too. I enjoyed her tenure as a hopeful on the show, but I feel like it's just feeding her delusions of grandeur to keep bringing her back. That bugs me.

| It feeds the beast, which is a problem when you start to take it seriously, as Erica undoubtedly is. You would think she would be horrified at how superficial, judgemental, vapid, uninspired and offensive she comes across on this show. And yet ... she seems impressed with herself. Pychiatrist's wet dream? Meet Erica.

| I liked Desiree throughout the show, but I like her even more after watching that interview. She is a doll, very real.

| Desiree grew on me after the first episode. I wasn't impressed with the Austin Powers aspect of her persona, but it seemed to settle down after the first episode or two. Her exit speech, OTOH, I found touching. I think she's very young, but her heart seemed in the right place. I think I was one of the few who was impressed with "I would have taken care of him." It takes a caring, giving, secure person to be able to give oneself away to another (she didn't strike me as the co-dependent type).

| I know that PLo said that she was much different when they were off talking and he really thought she was a neat person. He as much as said that the "baby" bit was something to single herself out, probably, I'm guessing with him and for the camera. |

| That was a great clip of Desiree. And they got to do some shopping before flying back to the states. Somehow that makes me feel a little better about this show. It is a good thing that these girls, as they leave, get to relax a bit before going home.

| Teleconference with Desiree Valentin transcribed by Jennie Why did the girls react so poorly to Lisa? She got too confident when she received the rose and the earrings on the first episode. She walked around the house acting very catty and acting like she was better than all of us. Lisa didn’t reach out or try to build a friendship with any of the girls. She was negative and there was something about her that was just not right. Was Lorenzo picking up on the negative things you observed about Lisa? I was shocked and couldn’t understand why he did not see the cattiness in her. She knew everything about the Bachelor. She had seen every single episode. When the date boxes would come she would know how many people would be going on the date and what the date would be about because she was a guru. I thought Lorenzo would pick up on that. Now that I have seen the show and have seen him on their dates, I see they did have a stronger connection than I had realized. Their connection has been quite shocking to me. Why did you seem shocked at who Lorenzo chose for the final four? I thought Lisa was going home because she was catty and I didn’t like her at all. When we were on the Tuscany date they (Lisa and Lorenzo) were acting more like brother and sister. It didn’t seem like there was any chemistry or romance between Lisa and Lorenzo so I thought she was going home for sure. I also thought Agnese would go home. I didn’t think they had a strong connection because they were unable to communicate when we were all together. I thought he would be intimidated meeting Agnese’s family because they were Italian. I was shocked because I thought Jeanette and I were very beautiful women with great personalities and we were going to stay. When we ended up going home I was floored. Do you feel broken hearted after this experience? The whole experience was absolutely incredible. The producers and crew took such good care of us. The ladies were fantastic. Lorenzo was absolutely a doll and extremely charming and a cute guy. I was bummed out because I was leaving Rome, and the romantic fairy tale of a story where I could fall in love with a prince. I have moved on and everything is fine in the dating scene so actually after all of this I am so happy that I did it. I have no regrets and I am full of smiles right now. Of the people that are left who did you get along the best with? Sadie, she was absolutely a sweetheart. She was a princess. She was the type that could be a politician’s wife. She was so perfect in everything that she did. She would never hurt a fly. Our birthdays are a week apart and she is a year older than me. We are both Pisces so we were both the cute little sentimental girls in the house. Did you find out when Lorenzo’s birthday was? He is a Gemini. Were you aware of what your duties might be if you married a Prince? I asked Lorenzo what he was looking for in a woman. He had built a successful career and was fine financially. I asked him if he was looking for a wife who would stay at home and raise his kids. He said he was looking for a woman that was ambitious and had her own career goals. He wanted a woman who had her own goals and dreams. He wanted the woman he chose to be able to fulfill all her dreams and to do wonderful things. I figured since he was a prince all he wanted was a hot momma. He was looking for a great companion who had the same strong desires that he had. Who do you think is best for Lorenzo Sadie or a wild card like Agnese? I am hoping he selects Sadie. Their personalities were absolutely perfect for each other. If Lorenzo wants to find his frisky side he would have more fun with Agnese. Sadie is safer than Agnese and would be more wife material. Do you think Lorenzo was too conservative and intimidated by you? Right off the bat I noticed Lorenzo was very conservative and shy. That is not me. I couldn’t hold back. I love to laugh and make every experience the best. I am a positive person. I think in the beginning he was intrigued. I might have been a little too much woman for him. As time went on I think he considered me more of a wild card than a safe bet. We did have fun and I cracked him up all the time. What was the reaction you got from people back home? It is completely black and white. Any one who knows me is not shocked by anything I did on the show. There are people who are thanking me for showing the fun side of Salt Lake City and that not everyone is conservative. I have really gotten smacked by the religious side of the city. The Desert News wrote an article saying that if you are expecting the bachelorette from Salt Lake City to be a nice religious girl, think again, she is totally wild. When the third and fourth episode aired it showed more of my sentimental side. Not so much that I am a wild child but that there is a heart to me so I think people are starting to warm up to me a little bit. Overall I am happy with the show and I could care less if they want to give me crap about it. I loved your pronunciation of tequila! Oh you mean te’kill’ia? It does doesn’t it? It obviously gets you to take your clothes off and jump in the pool right? What were your hopes and expectations in doing the show, why did you want to be on the Bachelor? Just the fantasy of falling in love with a prince, I had been single for seven or eight months and I was ready to fall in love. It is so hard to find good guys that are bachelors and have their heads on straight. When the opportunity came to me I jumped on it. I have always had a thing for Italian men. And that it was in Rome, I was like Oh yes, I am going for it. There was a huge chance that I was going to fall in love with him. I went in with the highest spirits thinking that if I was to walk away with a ring on my finger and be engaged to this incredible man, I would be the happiest girl. What was your favorite experience in doing the show? The wine tasting at Tuscany, it was absolutely captivating. The whole time I was in awe of how gorgeous it was. It was so romantic and fun. Truth or dare was hilarious because we were all so saucy after drinking so much wine. Were you a fan of the show before you did it? I actually wasn’t. I have never been a really big TV person. I don’t even have a TV in my house because if I did I would waste all my time watching it. I had seen a few shows but was really intrigued by the fact I could go to Rome and fall in love. I really didn’t care too much that I was going to be on a TV show. I was going for the experience. What is next for you? This whole experience has opened up so many doors for me and I have been having so much fun with it. I have actually enrolled in some broadcasting courses at the University of Utah. I want to get into the media because I loved it so much. I don’t know if I would like to do acting or if I would like to be on the backside of it. This experience opened up my eyes as to how much fun this industry is and I am going for it. I am young, I might as well. How has this experience changed your expectations of romance and dating in the future? It has ruined me. I am comparing all of the guys I meet to my last boyfriend who was a prince. It has messed it up a little bit because Lorenzo was so charming and had so many great qualities that my expectations are now higher. I am a classy chick who has a lot going for her so hopefully I will find a man like that. Who knows what is going to happen. Is there anything you would have done differently if you could go back? I can’t think of anything I would take back. I was true to myself the whole time and I was honest with Lorenzo. I wish we could have had a one on one date because I don’t think he got to know me well enough and he let me go too soon which is his loss. The moderator reminds everyone about the hometown visits. Desiree breaks in and says the preview, which shows Lisa, and the wedding dress confirmed to her that Lisa is a psycho. They all laughed. A couple of observations about the interview, Desiree called those who were asking the questions “honey” a lot. She received multiple compliments on her energy level and how much fun she was to watch on the show and she responded, “Oh thank you honey!” Since Lisa is such a Bachelor Guru I wonder if she knows about the FORT and has been involved in our sleuthing/speculating in past seasons? |
