| Shoot. They are going to assume it's because of Erica who will, no doubt, now get her own reality show. It could happen. | |

| Bachelorette happy without the crown By Sara McDonald The Daily News Published October 18, 2006 GALVESTON — She may have missed her chance to be a princess, but Jami Matzke doesn’t feel like she lost much. Matzke, 27, got dumped on national television Monday night on the latest episode of ABC’s “The Bachelor.” Matzke, an event planner in Galveston, was one of nine finalists vying for the affection of Lorenzo Borghese, a cosmetics heir with a royal bloodline. On the episode, Matzke competed with eight other bachelorettes in an opera-singing contest. As the winner, she went on a one-on-one date with Borghese to an Italian opera. But, despite an opera hall to themselves and champagne-filled prelude, Borghese told Matzke he didn’t feel anything for her and sent her away just after the date. “That’s such a kick in the face,” she said. “My ego was totally bruised.” But she wasn’t heartbroken. “There was zero attraction, at least on my part,” she said. “I could tell even the first night I got out of the limo.” Matzke also said Borghese seemed quiet and shy — not the type of man she’s typically compatible with. Matzke admits she’s loud, talkative and down-to-earth. If that wasn’t what Borghese wanted, that’s fine, she said. But she said she felt like the person who viewers saw during the three episodes accurately portrayed who she is. Other women weren’t so lucky, she said. Such as Desiree, a 22-year-old Realtor from Utah who is portrayed on the show as a wild party girl. “Truth be told, she is a sweetheart,” Matzke said. And Lisa, the 25-year-old marketing manager from Portland, isn’t as sweet and innocent as she seems, Matzke said. “She’s a whiz,” Matzke said. “She knew all this stuff about the show. She told me whoever went on the second one-on-one date would go home. “She is psycho. She told us she had applied for all of these other reality shows.” Matzke, however, hadn’t seen an episode of the show before watching herself on television. But she said her encounter with reality television was probably enough. “The experience I had was nothing but positive, but the producing is what got to me,” she said. “It is very scripted, and I think when you’re watching TV, anyone with half a brain can figure that out.” Scripted moments she had to endure aired on the second episode, when she and another contestant sneaked into Borghese’s room during a cocktail party to snoop around. That came only at the prodding of a producer, who told them the party was a little too boring. Now, she can sit back and watch the six remaining contestants, though she already has an idea who might capture Borghese’s heart. She’s betting on Agnese, a 24-year-old student and one of the Italian women added to the show during the first episode. That doesn’t mean she thinks the show will necessarily end in marriage for the 34-year-old Borghese. “It struck me when I left that all he is left with is girls younger than 25,” she said. “I think I was the last woman there.” As for the hunt for her own prince charming, she isn’t giving up yet. And the recognition she’s getting from the show, along with three leftover formal gowns, might help along the way. “I might just go down to Postoffice (Street) in my ball gown,” she said. “Hey, I was on ‘The Bachelor.’ I might as well milk it for all it’s worth.” http://news.galvestondailynews.com/s...5694cbf8d809a7 |

| Thanks for posting that Jennie.. a couple of interesting comments. First, she thinks he selects Agnese.. hmmmm 2nd.. this is the 2nd B'ette to speak negatively of Lisa, so maybe it's not just producer's edit.. she really doesn't seem too well liked by the other girls. I think the contrived contest by Erica (and the producers) next week will focus on bashing Lisa by the other girls... I think this statement is what we've all be thinking and saying as well: Quote:

| CRAZY LOVE 'BACHELOR' RICH GIRL HAS HER SAY By DON KAPLAN 'The Bachelor' contestant Erica Rose October 18, 2006 -- ERICA Rose, the drama-queen socialite who was booted off "The Bachelor: Rome" halfway through this week's episode, confesses she may be wee-bit snooty. "Maybe I've realized that I am a bit of a snob," she told The Post yesterday after watching herself Monday night on an episode of the series that had tongues wagging all over the country. Rose, 23, was identified as a "socialite" on the show because, as the daughter of a well-to-do Houston plastic surgeon, her only job is to help run her family's charity - an organization that supplies free reconstructive surgery to cancer patients. Her departure from the show - a mumbling rant about why she thought this season's bachelor, a Connecticut businessman related to the Italian Borghese family, should choose her - was stunningly bitter. Alone in the departing limo, she called the legend of Prince Charming rescuing a poor girl from a life of poverty a "disgusting myth." "But I'm proud of myself for being a snob," she said yesterday. "I don't think people should frown on me for that. "In all cases, I don't like tattoos. And if that makes me a snob then I'm a huge snob because I think they're disgusting. "Being a snob that way is OK, but being a snob because you think you're better than someone else, maybe isn't so good," she says. During her time on "The Bachelor," Rose tried to argue that she was the better match for the show's 34-year-old bachelor, Lorenzo Borghese, because they were both rich. She went so far as to say she was "several notches" above the competition and even occasionally wore a tiara - because "it brings out my inner princess." "I really don't think I'm a better person," than the other contestants, she said yesterday. ""I hate to say it, but I obviously wasn't his type," she said. "He was looking for a more down-to-earth girl. "I'm speculating that he's probably dated girls like me before who came from a similar background to him," she says. "To him I'm not a novelty. [Other girls on the show] might be more of a novelty because they're, like, high-school cheerleaders, all-American, blond haired, blue-eyed girls. "I hope that I don't have to end up with some poor guy and rescue him off the street," she added. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10182006...don_kaplan.htm |

| OK, so maybe the Erica thing is not an act, she is truly the person portrayed on the show. Honestly, I just could not believe someone was that "insert your own adjective" here", but after reading this article, it appears she is exactly the person we see on TV. SCARY! And shame on her parents......... |

| Thanks for the articles, Jennie. What a hoot! I think I'd love to hang out with Jami, and I don't feel even a little bit badly about laughing at poor, deluded Erica. One thing that stood out to me is Jami's comment about how Lisa told her the second one-on-one date always goes home. If that's true (I don't remember), it just adds to the Fleissian Bachelor formula: pick out a girl who obviously has no chemistry with the Bach, set her up on a mini-fantasy date, and watch her bubble burst with a vengeance for national TV. Classy.

| What gets me about Erica is that she doesn't like to be judged yet she has no problem judging. Wonder when she will ever figure out that she can't ride both sides of the fence. I also wonder if she will ever figure out that if it hurts her when others judge her, that perhaps, just maybe, even possibly, it hurts those that she judges. I would so put my kids over my knee if they acted like this girl! And I don't care how old I get! I am still the mother and I would never even think about raising my kids like that! Geeze! It is parents like this girls that make the world a bad place to live. Just my two cents.

| I just have to say, I love this girl (Erica).. I haven't laughed so much with the Bachelor that I can remember (except at our outstanding recaps, that is! ) This girl is by far the most over the top, ok maybe equalling Sarah W. that The Bachelor has had. ... This statement is hilarious! ![]() Quote:

| Me too, Cafegirl! I think Erica is great! I really am sorry we did not hear more monologues and comments from her - perhaps her own sitcom - ![]() From comments by the other girls, they liked her and found her "over the top" but basically harmless and nice and, I suspect, clueless. I think they took her with an "Erica is Erica" philosophy. The only one seemingly not liking her was Agnese. That I think is understandable.
