2/6 Bachelor 16 Show Thread: Episode 6 **West Coast Spoilers*

Pandora2, yes, Jamie at least said several times "I'm prude." Drove me nuts, and I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm not generally a grammer nazi, but when it's SOOOO wrong, it does get under my skin.

On Courtney this episode-I'm not a fan, AT ALL, but this kind of episode made me wonder exactly HOW much of this show is staged. IF this was a real native tribe, then I have no problem with Courtney going nude under the beads/skirt (although as someone said, the 'native' women didn't need black bars, so she's still kind of skanky for emphasizing that she was nude) If it WASN'T a real native tribe, then yeah it would have been akin to child porn. I think due to the women of the tribe going topless and the fact that they seemed to be speaking some other language than Spanish, the producers likely found a tribe that has long been supplementing their native way of life by working closely with other cultures, including probably filming before. So, as I said, I have no problem if any of the women decided to remove their bikinis (although, again, Courtney purposely jiggling around...ew. Anyone else get the idea during her interviews that booze was included on this date, even though I didn't see any?) What I DID have a problem with was Ben voicing his disappointment that more of the girls didn't go topless like Courtney. Surely he must have realized that the majority of them wouldn't be comfortable being basically naked in front of strangers and a camera crew? He came off like a total perv looking for a cheap thrill.

That being said, again, I DO NOT like Courtney. Her (successful) bid to steal Ben's attention during Jamie's one on one came off as one of the most pathetic grabs in the few seasons I've watched. At least, until poor Jamie at the cocktail party.

That poor girl..I couldn't help but laugh out loud while simultaniously cringing while feeling sorry for her. She's clearly not cut out for this show. It was clear she was desperately trying to not be 'prude' but she just came off as sad. I think she was trying to act like the girl she thinks he wants rather than the girl she is. And while that's working for Courtney, it's clearly not Jamie. She just wasn't ready to be that intimate, and that's a detriment on a show where you need to declare true love after 15 minutes. I just wish she hadn't humiliated herself before she left.

Don't know about Kacie B. She seems like a nice girl-I actually went to Tennessee, and while I'm a few years older than her, an old roommate was in the Pride of the Southland Marching Band with Kacie and says she's a sweet girl. Most of the mutual friends we have seem to be rooting for her, but personally, if I had a friend who was on this show, I'd just want to smack some sense into them. Info I've gotten from friends is that Kacie really is as good of a person as she's coming off, which means that she's too good for the usual direction of this show, IMHO.

Random thoughts:

Jaime's incorrect use of the word prude bugged me too.

Panama is not an African village and I suspect the natives found Courtney's actions unsettling. Well, the women, anyway.

Ben should have taken Jamie by the hand and led her to a private place to finish their talk when Courtney showed up for a swim. He is so hot for her it disrupts rational thought. Jaime could have done that as well. Courtney is influencing the actions of most everyone.

Ben's comment to Casey was true, the heart wants what it wants. Is Ben's heart making his decisions? Nah, not a chance.

Courtney asked Ben to come to her room. Since when do they have private rooms? Makes you go hmmmmmmm.

Ben's personality is not strong enough to be a lead in this show. Yes, it is shallow for me to say this; he is not handsome enough either.

Kacie admitting to an eating disorder was fine but she did not frame it well. It is not such a heavy disclosure given the fact her point was that it made her more mature and stronger. She delieverd the news like a timid puppy. Not a big deal Kacie. She is sweet but doesn't "pop" like they say for an accent color in decor.

Emily pops a bit. Nicki, not so much for me. She seems to have a lot of fans but I don't see it. Lindzay looks to be a nifty person but there is little time left to really see her and does that even matter. This is the Courtney show.

Again, I'm not necessarily defending the appalling sociopath, but first, I have no problem with nudity and I assume that there are others who feel the same way, including native tribes the world around, and second, I have heard of incidences of producers on various shows placing black bars or pixels over areas that didn't actually warrant it in order to encourage outrage, discussion and ratings. So, really, who knows?

Yes, there is that (fake bars). I have no problem with nudity either. It is tricky to go to another culure and assume it is okay, however. American's are often under fire for not repecting the local culture.

Kacey looks perfect in a swimsuit. I wonder if she still has concerns about weight. Once you're a starver n' puker, you don't just quit feeling the need to do that, do you? Aren't you always tempted to regress? But anyway, she is so pretty. But the producers haven't shown us much substantial conversation between the two... nothing like the massive chemistry shown between Ali & Roberto, for example.

In fact, none of the girls ever ask Ben about himself. Do they even care what he's like? It's mostly just about travelling now, isn't it?

Eating disorders, like Kacie suggested last night, occur for other reasons besides wanting to look good in a bathing suit. More women than not struggle with them and overcoming them, yes. It's beyond "starving and puking." One of my best friends in college became so ill that her hip bones protruded through her clothes. Where we once could run together for miles, she'd have to stop after 1/2 a mile: her body had nothing to go on. I appreciate that the show brought this issue to the surface given the plastic emphasis on external form. Kacie is beautiful externally but moreso internally. She deserves the world.

That aside, I don't think Ben and Kacie have enough to go on anymore.

Ben so obviously is not in marrying mode. He is still a man on the prowl. His complete and utter stupidity when it comes to Courtney and her antics shows that he is just going for the girl who is the most willing to give it to him. Courtney is no better looking than most of the other girls only difference is she is shallowly willing to put out hardcore.

Kacie B is a nice girl, but I just do not see that she is ready either. If he is ready to settle down, yeah right, I see Nikki or Lindzi as the two that would best suit him. However, when he kisses Lindzi he seems so unattracted to her that I just do not see it. I think he should just choose Courtney, have sex with her for a few months until he gets a clearer head and sees she has no depth to her, and than maybe move on to trying to find a real relationship. I see none of these girls and him going the distance.

This is exactly how I see it going down, but I honestly see her giving him the boot first. She'll get tired of him right after the interviews and magazine covers end, and I think she'll like the tabloid breakup stories since they will extend her 15 minutes. I don't see any honest feelings developing between them, it's him being led around by his little Ben and her doing everything in her power to get as much airtime as possible.

Bet your booties she'll be on Bachelor Pad.

Wow....Courtney won't even accept Emily's apology. Says so much about Courtney's character.

After reading Jennifer's article in People magazine, I had come to realize that Courtney is exactly as she is being portrayed. However, I had hoped that when Emily started to apologize, that we would see a softer side of her. I could not believe how cold her response was. The mere fact that she's only known Emily for a short period of time would dictate that Emily's public apologize was more than enough! How could she not accept it? How I would love for some people to apologize to me! I agree with you angelic, this said so much about Courtney's true character. I'm anxious to read Ben's blog this morning. I just came from Chris Harrison's and it certainly sounded like he was disappointed in her behavior.

Considering that the girls, Ben and Courtney all discussed the fact that she was indeed baring all - we know. I have absolutely no problem with nudity either, but there is a time and place for it, and it's not in little boy's faces. Courtney doesn't seem to get that apparently.

When I saw them steaming down the river, my first thought was that that is where they discovered mosquitoes carry Malaria as so many Panama Canal diggers/workers were affected. Emily, getting her doctorate in epidemiology, may already have been there on a field trip and thus her knowing the native language should not surprise. Isn't that area a hot bed for studying disease born insects such as the tse tse fly?

Courtney continues to delight by staying true to her narcissistic self; first asking someone to be her mirror and then coldly rejecting Emily's apology.

Props to Emily this show! She displayed her intelligence, her depth with the apology and her wit when she confessed to having a previous boyfriend - the tribal chief.

When they go to Belize do you think they'll visit the island where Jurassic Park was filmed? Maybe a raptor will run down Courtney.
