I think all the earlier seasons were shorter, maybe 5-6 weeks at most. Starting with Jillian, they began with the longer, 8 week shooting schedule, which also had more episodes and a slower narrowing down process. They have continued this schedule in all the following seasons except for Jake's, which was back to the shorter, 6 week one for some reason (IMO it's because even then, producers couldn't stand him and didn't want to spend any extra time with him).
Seriously, since they coordinate/alternate with DWTS (and now BP) for the Monday time slot, I think some of it had to do with how many weeks were allotted to Fleiss vs DWTS, and typically, the Bachelorette, since it runs over the summer, was able to fit in more episodes between DWTS seasons than the Bachelor was. Although I have a feeling that, since ratings continue to be good, we will be seeing the longer shooting schedules and more episodes from this point on for both versions.
yeah - with DWTS running in the off-season they definitely have to coordinate in advance - this season they're only having 11 dancers - isn't that a smaller amount than usual(maybe because Brad's season went 2 weeks longer than usual :shrug) ? I know Jill's season started in May - can't remember when Ali's did - but if Ashley's runs 11 weeks that brings the finale to Aug 1 - which is the same Monday that Ali's season finale aired.
Even tho the board will be closed for Bachelorette (which I understand), who's still planning on watching? I can't say that I'm too into it.
The board won’t be closed – the spoiler/sleuthing side will be closed. Unless I read it wrong, the side of the board for discussion about the show will still exist.
ETA: Speaking of Ashley's season, is it safe to say that Brad and Em won't be making an appearance to give advice?
Her BFF in the house was Ashley S - maybe she will be :shrug
I've already decided I won't be watching - without the sleuthing portion I see no need - since the shows have become so boring and formula.
I too am under the impression that discussions are open, but not sleuthing. We'll probably watch a few of the initial episodes, and then decide if it's worth the time. Ashley is a wonderful person no doubt, but her personality would drive me nuts. Any thoughts on her dress that she wore on the JK show? Who dressed her and/or picked that thing out? We thought it was horrible and held on by a roll of double stick tape. Not flattering....actually pretty bad.
I had reflected on just how my bachelor/ette experience had changed since the Rose Game ended and RS started posting week-to-week spoilers. I had thought this time around I would entertain myself sleuthing, but this board is by far the best setup. With it gone and no place to go, I think I will take a break from the franchise! The Rose Game was fun to play. I actually won a weekly prize and got a box full of stuff.
Big deal for me not to watch! I started posting (another name) on the mother board back at B2. With the exception of Lorenzo, I've watched them all since B2. During his season, I was in Mexico taking Spanish classes and having too much fun to watch on Monday nights. (I saw a few that season anyway.)
I think I need a break! Didn't really enjoy this last one that much and I liked the main character.
