I'm not sure I understand why she was fired. Yeah, she didn't do much, but Sarah was the PM and should have delegated something to her.
It seemed that Martha was aware of the the co-leadership that was going on. When Howie was asking about the boxing gloves Sarah turned to Carrie for guidance and Carrie was the one to shoot down that idea.

It's too bad Carrie was fired. Obviously, she needs some more income or she wouldn't keep wearing that pink tablecloth every morning.
Sarah was horrendous and was fired for being incapable of leading that task. She was like a deer in the headlights.
Carrie, on the other hand, was fired for trying too hard to stay under the radar. And for horrible fashion sense. When the Martha said, "you don't fit in," what she really meant to say was, "Carrie, your clothes don't fit and you have terrible taste."
