    Re: Site Adjustments

Just to clarify, this was an upgrade to the vBulletin software for the message board. If you hang out on any other message boards, you might already know that software upgrades are necessary at times to keep the technology current. That includes keeping the site secure from hackers as well as being compatible with the features that TV Guide wants for the site.

We've upgraded the vBulletin on FORT more than once, and there has always been a period of adjustment. There are features we've had that we've had to lose for security reasons (such as instant messaging) and features we've gained (such as the Casino).

Questions about how the buttons will look in the private message interface - the mods here can't really help you with that. It's new to us as well and to any site using the new vBulletin software. Personally, I don't think I have ever sent an image attachment in a PM so I can't just rattle out what button to push. For that kind of problem you have to play with it yourself and see what works.

For any of you who are just now posting that the site is slow for you, make sure you read through the entire thread. Critical had a fix that worked for many users earlier in the thread.

    Re: Site Adjustments

I'm still having the same problems.
I'll read something then it jumps around constantly.
Still very slow and still difficult to edit. I also seem to get logged out a lot.
Didn't have any of that happen before.
I'm still on Firefox and really don't want to have to change that, esp. when this is the only site I visit that is causing me problems.
Any word on when things should be back to normal?
    Thanks

    Re: Site Adjustments

I am also still having major slowness. I'm not having any other problems though.

I did contact my computer guy. He's pretty good IMO. He went on the site on his end found the slowness too. He gave me a number of possiblities, that I don't really understand, but he also asked me if the people who are having slow issues are from one particular part of the country. I'm in NC. I'm not sure where the others who share this problem are located or if that matters. Could it be connected or not, I'm not sure.

I told him some people don't seem to have the slowness issue. He's going to try to come up with some options, but thinks the problem is with the server. I'll update if he is able to offer any suggestions.

    Re: Site Adjustments

I don't know if it was from work done on the site, the server, or what, but I DID have huge problems with my message jumping around as I tried to post and just recently that problem stopped. (YEA!) I am still having the problem with the site jumping when I click on and start to read the first new message.

Believe it or not, I don't have a marked "slowness" issue relative to how the site loaded before. (And Debb, I'm in Georgia as far as your tech's regional question - and I use Internet Explorer.)

Just have to say that I am glad to see that the trophies next to poster's names (for game play) are back. Will you be reprising Post of The Week trophies as well?

I didn't know where else to put this. How do we get the Hell's Kitchen folder booted up for the new season? It starts tonight and I'm looking forward to discussing it.

I am having trouble accessing a member's name from the members' list. In the past you could always put the name in the box and it would bring it right up. Now when you get near the box with your mouse it seems to disappear. Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Re: Site Adjustments

A lot of stuff used to be on the first page - I think it was the CP page, or some such name.
You could search member lists, who was on the site, etc.

    I can't find it anymore.
Also, how do you know who's having a birthday? I can't find that either. And the only date that shows up for me is 2007. I can't update it past that.

    TIA

Okay, I lied when I said that my posts stopped jumping around when I'm typing. Does anyone have a solution to that?

If they do, they need to let me know, too.
