Well, Firefox alone isn't enough. You also need AdBlock, or even better AdBlock Plus (with a properly configured subscription to a good master blocking list set up).

Er... um. In theory. I mean I love this site and want to help support it! I wouldn't DARE block those Ads that help it pay for itself. Nope. Nada. Never. Nil.

Re: Ack - redirected ads and pop ads taking over browser

For what it's worth, some of the FORT banner ads at the top are getting blocked by the company firewall here. The relevant part of the notice says:

Quote:
URL: http://ad2.adecn.com/here.spot?v=2.2...=1216084577365
Reason: Known disease vector
I do work for a computer security company, so they probably know what they're talking about.

Re: Ack - redirected ads and pop ads taking over browser

Well, I didn't do anything different to my computer...mostly because I'm technologically challenged...but I came back on about 20 minutes ago and haven't had a pop-up at all. Hopefully it was just a one night thing {fingers and toes crossed}.

Actually, I have ABP running and still have the problem.

I'm wondering if this is related:

Its happening again. I keep getting redirected and losing my way around FORT with their ads taking me to other websites.

I just had one popup, but I hit the back button and went right back to where I was.

Re: Ack - redirected ads and pop ads taking over browser

I got a "audio" pop up add just now. All of a sudden this music started playing, I thought it was my clock but it was an ad for Heineken beer.

Re: Ack - redirected ads and pop ads taking over browser

I had one last night. It was like a continuous re-load strip. My cursor wouldn't stay still - it had the heebie jeebies. Finally the ad came up and I was able to close it. I sure hope this type ad isn't the wave of the future.
