Intermittent Server Downtime MONDAY 04/09 UPDATED
I'll be doing a lot of server work MONDAY, which hopefully includes fixing the page viewing issues several of you are experiencing.
In doing this, we're upgrading the versions of the database, php, and apache, as well as doing some additional security lockdowns and server optimization behind the scenes.
The site will be down for what I hope are short periods, randomly throughout the day. I apologize for the inconvenience, but the end result will be handling more users quicker, eliminating the errors, and ensuring that your experience here is the best possible.
Thanks in advance!
***EDIT: We've moved this from today to Monday, I apologize for any inconvenience and the short notice.
Re: Intermittent Server Downtime MONDAY 04/09 UPDATED
Server work will begin at 11am Eastern, and there will be at least one server reboot involved.
Before they upgrade mysql, I'll need to make a backup of the database. To get a clean backup, I need to take the site down, and keep it down until the mysql upgrade is complete. My estimation of this is 1 hour or less.
During any downtime today, the chat room will be available at:
FORT Chatroom
Please bookmark it now if you haven't already, as this page will not be available when the site is down.

John,
is the page viewing issue similar to the following example when I try to look at the AI6 Spoiler's thread (6th and 7th pages when I view 100 posts/page)? All I get is a blank screen.
Re: Intermittent Server Downtime MONDAY 04/09 UPDATED
Yep, that's the one.
Try, as Unk suggested, changing your posts per page setting, and you should be able to get into it, until the issue is fixed.
Re: Intermittent Server Downtime MONDAY 04/09 UPDATED
Unfortunately, changing the posts per page setting did nothing for me, and I tried every combination available, but I'm happy it's working for others.
Re: Intermittent Server Downtime MONDAY 04/09 UPDATED
Just as an update, php and apache have been recompiled with newer versions, and we should be pointed to those new versions within the hour. You won't notice a difference, but it fixes a lot of security holes, and we took out a bunch of useless items.
Tomorrow will be the database upgrade, which will cause some downtime. Only a little if things go well, and several hours if things don't. Hope for the first one :)
