The Official FORT Lingo List

In the "New Infraction System" thread, ClosetNerd suggested that we create a public list of lingo phrases we don't want to see here. We thought that was a good idea, so here you have it. We tried to brainstorm to figure out all the possibilities, but we may have to add to it when others come to our attention. So, in other words, just because a word isn't on here, it doesn't mean it's necessarily fair game.

Hopefully, even if a specific word isn't listed here, this can get across the "flavor" of the types of words we don't want to see.

Instead of "b4", write "before"
Instead of "U", write "you"
Instead of "ne1", write "anyone"
Instead of "gr8", write "great"
Instead of "cuz" or "cos" or "coz", write "because"
Instead of "prolly", write "probably"
Instead of "wuz", write "was"
Instead of "2", write "to" (unless you mean the number)
Instead of "4", write "for" (unless, again, you mean the number)
Instead of "ppl", write "people"
Instead of "plz", write "please"
Instead of "c", write "see" (particularly in the case of "i c")
Instead of "thnx" or "thx", write "thanks"
Instead of "y", write "why"
Instead of "r", write "are" (particularly in the case of "ur")
Instead of "kewl", write "cool"
Instead of "wif", write "with"
Instead of "l8" or "l8r", write "late" or "later"
Instead of "wer", write "where"
Instead of "2nite", write "tonight"
Instead of "nvm", write "nevermind"
Instead of "luv", write "love"
Instead of "sry", write "sorry"
Instead of "kno" or "no", write "know"
Instead of "tho", write "though"

Thanks in advance for your cooperation, everyone!

So... I know it's not listed here, but i say "ya'll" a lot... do I have to start typing out "you all" now, or is it all good?

I had a couple others, but I didn't write them down...

ETA: Oh! So basically it's "chatspeak" and "1337" that's going to get us infraction points? Is that seriously such a big problem here that it has to be pointed out?

It would be if they let it. You missed the Gotti show thread.

What about stuff like lol and rofl? I know I find them annoying, but I am the only one? Is it considered lingo?

That brings back bad memories. I just don't understand lingo when it's so much easier to type normally.

Broadway is exactly right. If it appears not to be a problem here, it's because the staff works tirelessly to keep it that way.

Thank God they don't use lingo here. It gives me a headache. I'm just getting old, I guess. Or I like vowels.
