The winner for this week is MomAt40pls, for this wonderful post in the "The Biggest Loser" forum.

All of the contestants shown with the exception of Pete and maybe Wylie (not sure about the numbers), have gained weight since they were on the show. Many of them still had more to lose when they left the ranch in order to get down to a truly healthy weight. Why didn't they show us how much they weighed at the beginning of their season, how much they weighed at the end of their season and then how much they weigh now? That would have given them the opportunity to really talk about the struggle of keeping the weight off. Why didn't they show even one contestant who has gained a good bit of their weight back?
Lots of people talk about how losing the weight is only half the battle, but the reality is that losing the weight is the easy part. The hard part and way more than half the battle (in my book) is keeping it off. I speak as a person who has lost and regained close to a hundred pounds two times in my life. I guess the third time's a charm because I have now lost 112 lbs and kept it off for over a year. I think about what I eat and my activity level every day. It was great to see that many of the former contestants have embraced an active lifestyle, so I do have to applaud them for emphasizing exercise as a key component to maintaining a healthy weight. But they need to talk about healthy eating too. It has to be a way of life. If you go on a diet and then go off once you've lost the weight, you will gain.
Sorry, I don't mean to be negative. I would just love to see NBC do a better job of showing the reality of weight struggles. The before and after pictures are great and very dramatic, but the day-to-day is where I live.
Congratulations on a great psot
