    It seems I had to reboot my computer to make the changes take effect, dberk. It won't hurt to try that.

    If rebooting doesn't automatically do it, dberk, go to Tools, then Options, click on the Advanced tab, and make sure it has the spell check option selected.

    Thanks ladies,
    I figured out what I was doing wrong - shocking I know. I didn't realize that I needed to access the Internet through Firefox (which I insist on calling Foxfire). It seems to be working now and I love the "add to dictionary" feature. It will no longer question: TPTB. I'd love to be there when M Webster notices the unauthorized additions?
