idle then logged off?

Okay this may be here somewhere. Sorry if it is already.

how long is it when your idle before you get the boot?

A few times I've gone to post something then hit enter and I've been logged off. I may be working or on the phone or whatever and I've written a long post and
it's gone!!!!

Probably a stupid question but, very aggravating when your writing something and it disappears

I think it's fifteen minutes, but I'm not so sure.

If this is a problem for you I think there's an option to stay logged on all the time.

It's 15 minutes. If you run into this problem, and think you may be over the limit, copy/paste your post into Notepad before clicking the button, and if you lose it you can just paste it back.

While we're on this topic, another question - when I use the always logged in option, all the topics are marked as read after the 15 minute idle time. Is there a way for this not to happen?

No, there's not, unfortunately. Your cookie on this site expires after 15 minutes of inactivity. At that time, it's assumed you're no longer here, and all posts/threads/forums are marked as having been read.

Thanks for clarifying that! I wondered what was happening. All this time I thought it was just me!

One more solution to this: some browsers will keep what you wrote in the box if you hit the back button. I know Opera behaves that way, and I think so does Mozilla Firefox.

*phew* *wipes forehead*

Every time it happens to me... I think I've been banned for some unknown reason. Panic sets in.
