Hmmm... Sorry to pester but, I've uploaded two different attachments that were in the same format and one had thumbnails and one didn't. Let me try this.

Huh. Apparently .jpg formats don't show thumbnails either. But a while back on the What do you look like thread I posted a .jpg attachment and it had a thumbnail. I'm so cyber stupid.

Ah, that might have something to do with the server move. I might be able to get that fixed...
Thanks John.You rock.

Ya, what happend to getting the full picture? Thanks for any help
Hmmmm, I come to this thread to ask why my .jpg attachments don't have thumbnails anymore and found I'm not the first to ask. At least I know it wasn't just me!

Testing image upload thumbnails.
Yay!
They finally work again. Sorry for the delay, everyone. What I know about apache can only get me into trouble.
I have a problem though, I see people posting huge pictures when I cant get anything that is huge. Can anybody help?
If you use the "Manage Attachments" function, you'll only get thumbnails. Those people are using the [IMG] tag and putting in a URL from a website that allows linking.
Sorry to be a pain, but how do I get them from websites and put them, thanks
John, thanks for the help. And I like the little calico pic.
Testing. Why does it have 2 windows, one that says thumbnails and one for attachments? (Not that it matters.)

Testing the image attachment thumbnailing again, to make sure the GD support is still in this recompiled Apache version.

Just trying this for the first time . . . please be patient with me if it doesn't work!
I don't have OCD, I have CDO. It's like OCD except that the letters are in alphabetical order like they should be!
Success on the first try!
Not many people accomplish that.![]()
Woo hoo! Thanks, John. But, I have to be honest, it is only because I went to the post where you had the step-by-step instructions (with images) that I was successful!

trying again; okay I see I got the file too large error message; now I'll have to see how to make my .jpg file smaller
yet another try; I resized it and it is a little fuzzy; if it works, it'll be of our dear, departed hamster.
Congrats, Veejer! That is a great pic . . .and it didn't look fuzzy to me at all.
I am sorry, though, for your loss.

Thanks chrelsey. It looked fuzzy in Irfanview when I resized it, but fine here.
We knew hamsters were shortlived when we got him, so the loss wasn't too hard to take. We had gotten from a hamster rescue.
Yay. I'm so excited to find the instructions for posting pics. Let's see if I can actually do it.

Damn. Didn't work.
Am I supposed to attach the file and then post without trying to put the URL of the attachment in? I'm confused.

ugh. I don't get time to watch TV anymore, much less hang out at the FORT.
But don't you worry, I'll be back in full force on or about November 3rd.
Does that show up for everyone, or just me?

If you mean off the web, get the web adress of the picture and copy and paste it inbetween the image tags: {img} {/img} except replace the { and } with [ and ]
thx for trying to help, i believe i've tried that though.Originally Posted by AIWANNABE

ping -
(if you can actually follow this)
type [ then type (no space) img then type (no space) ] then (no space)paste the url from the website where the picture is from (geocities won't work) then (no space) type [ then (no space) type /img]

I just can't do this. I've posted pix before, lots of 'em. I guess the brain fairie visited me. All I want to do is post a picture from my "C" drive. I don't have a website to send it to and then bring it back from. Seems like I used to be able to cut and paste from an email. But I can't get that to work. I know I should be able to do this, but I don't understand the instructions here. I just need a little bit of help. Someone?
For a pic on my C drive I just "go advanced" and do the manage attachment thing. Browse through your cdrive til you locate the image you have on there, and upload it?

Could you explain this in a "for dummies" way? I'm not quite following you, but have been wondering how to do this myself.Originally Posted by Texicana
Instead of a "post quick reply" use the "go advanced" button underneath this text box for your message. Once you are in advanced mode, you can scroll down and there's a "manage attachement" option. Click on that, and you get some empty boxes with "browse" options, click on browse and you can locate the picture you want to upload, whether it's in CDrive or "my pictures", basically where ever you've got it saved on. Once you find your photo, you can use the upload function to get it in your post...unless it's too big and needs to be resized. You'll get a message telling you it's too big in that case. Once you have successfully uploaded an image, you close out that window and go about posting your reply.

Let's see if I can get this to work.
Thanks Texi!
