We have the choice of downloading our Private Messages in the format of (1) XML, (2) CSV, and (3) Text.

Does anyone out there have a preference, or can anyone tell me what the pros and cons of the different formats are, please?

    Thanks a lot.

If you have an XML reader, you'd choose that format (most don't).

A CSV is a comma-delimited file for importing into Excel as a spreadsheet.

Text is the most common way you'll want to download them.

I am a member of a different site.. and there too PMs are used. I had so many PMs.. it took forever to load and felt like a lifetime waiting... so the only option I had was to make a new SN. With that... I lost 25,000 posts.
Didn't matter much as I believe quality vs quantity.

I'm a creature of habit.... BUT here at the FORT I'm deleting weekly.

I'm really hoping someone, someday, comes up with some improvements to the PM system. I'd love to be able to do searches, sort by username, show however many PM's per page as I want, and delete more than a page at a time.
