    Internet Explorer Problems

    Anyone good with IE?

I have cable internet, and all day today I will open my browser and it will work fine for a little awhile, and then I get an error message saying something about Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Error. I have to press okay and then my internet shuts down. This has happened all day. I did a search and can't find anything about how to fix this. It's very irritating because when it pops up, I can't press anything else in the window until I press okay, at which time my internet shuts down and I have to re-start it.

If anyone can help me with this I would be so grateful! Thanks!

ETA: It also says "abnormal termination" over the Okay button. I notcied, too, that it comes up a lot with pop-up advertisements, but also comes up on regular links. My browser is also a lot slower than normal.

Make sure it's not a virus causing that.

Yep, sounds like a virus if you're having pop-ups. Do you have Spybot or Adaware?

Heh, Toxic. I had asked my brother DJ's question and that's the first thing that he said, too. I told him that I was not going to post that... too funny that you did.

DJ... I don't think C++ works that directly with IE, so if you're getting C++ errors then something has gone very wrong, and it's highly likely it's a virus.

I rarely use IE anymore since I had the trojan-adware invasion a few months ago. I use Netscape at work (I think it is similar to Mozilla) and have had very few pop-ups since then.

Okay, thanks guys. Hopefully I can get this straightened out - it's frustrating. I do have Spybot and have ran it a couple times, but it still happens.

If you're running millenium, all I can advise is upgrade to XP. Expensive but worth it.

And CONGRATULATIONS on your 1,000 post!!! Have a on me.
