Minimum message length

I've noticed something odd since the last vBulletin upgrade... it seems to be you can no longer have a post which is all-quotes... it's sometimes a problem when I want to post a news item. It complains that there must be at least 2 characters in the post.

Is there a way around this?

We recently made this change to prevent the rash of no-content-posts we'd been having.

If you're posting a news item, just put the URL to that news item outside the quote, and that will solve your problem.

Would that be like quoting someone's post because you're in agreement with it without actually saying you are or once again, am I lost here?

You must have 2 characters at least in your post, and anything within the quote tags doesn't count.
