You type [ quote=username]paste the quoted text here, and then type [ /quote]

Then do another [ quote=differentusername]paste the second set of quoted text here, then type [ /quote].

    One more time, please, John...

    John,

Your reponse to dvm skipped a few steps for my Still in Kindergarten brain.

I see the "quick reply" button, and the "advanced button" at the bottom to post replys.

I also see the "quote" button in each post.

But, how to I incorporate the two?

    A) How do I just start a post (like now) then add a post in the middle of it (like now) and then keep typing?

    B) Or, how do I even reply and have a post in it?

Fluff told me, and then I read your reply to dvm, but I'm still flunking!

When I hit the "quote" button, the whole enchilada comes up. I know I could delete what I don't want posted, rather than highlighting and pasting what I do want posted (which would seem to be the easiest way) but then what do I do?

I'm gonna practice on this reply, since this seems to be a safe corner of your BB where the gang doesn't hang out. OK? If I'm still lost, and haven't graduated to elementary school, I'll ask you to help me again.

Forget the buttons, and just type [ quote] (removing the space). Paste your lines from the post you want to quote, and then type [ /quote] (again, removing the space.

You can do that as many times as you want.

And if you use [ quote=username] it adds the "originally posted by username" line.

Dang. I had a nice reply, hit some button with the pinkie of my left hand, and poof! the whole thing disappeared. Now, I'm gonna start again. Once again, with feeling...

    OK John,

What did I do wrong? I don't have those lovely blue bordered quotes. I only have [ quote] kinda stuff.

I was in the basic reply and didn't hit the little "Yes I should do quotes" button. Maybe that's my problem. Plus, you said (removing the space). What space? Maybe you mean the space inbetween the quote thingie and what's quoted?

I'm in Advanced now and will try again...

Don't put spaces before the word "quote". John did it in order to show you how to type it.
Who shot who in the what now?

You should drop the space after your [, SS. John only put them there so you could see how the code would look like
