I haven't even seen a John Kerry banner. But even if I did, and even if I hated him with a passion, it wouldn't affect my presence here. It's just an ad. How else is this site supposed to support itself? Members contribute if they can but still, running a website isn't cheap.

Not to mention that in a perfect world, every member here could support the site they frequent (for less than the cost of a night out) and ads wouldn't even be needed. But we don't live in a perfect world. Some are unable to contribute financially for whatever reason. So, ads are the only way to come up with those funds.

its just a banner to brind in revenue so that Long Time Lurkers can peruse the forums for free and members have the option to donate to the site to help reduce the costs that John foots to keep this site going. Being Green is the in-scene!!!!

ugh. I don't get time to watch TV anymore, much less hang out at the FORT.

But don't you worry, I'll be back in full force on or about November 3rd.

Just a note about the banners.

We belong to Burst!Media, a very large advertising company. THEY go out and sell the ad space which I have rented out to them, and although I do have SOME control over which campaigns I want to run, that particular campaign is a generalized campaign and not marked as needing special attention (such as "adult" or "gambling", for example, which need my explicit approval before they will run).

As such, I have no control over running those banners. It doesn't mean I or this site endorses Kerry, any more than it means that I or this site endorse Vonage or Bounty Paper Towels, 2 other advertisers who run ads on this site.

If that means you're leaving, then there's nothing I can do about that, but remember that the ads on this site are extremely minimal, and they prevent me from having to dig into my own pocket each month to provide this place for you to talk about something as frivolous as reality TV, for free, whenever you want. If someone is petty enough to leave over the running of a sporadic banner, over which I have no control, which endorses a candidate you don't support, then goodbye. I don't have the time nor inclination to worry about whether the banners, which help keep this site FREE FOR YOU, are bruising your delicate sensibilities.

Kerry, Bush, Nader, the Socialist Party candidate . . . I don't care. It wouldn't stop me from coming to the site. It's just an advertisement. I don't like the majority of commercials I see on TV, but that doesn't make me dislike "The Amazing Race."

Might I add that Ili is my new hero because he has such profound words of wisdom.

I don't think anyone else would leave a site for a banner. That's ridiculous. So the FORT probably just lost you for a member and if you can't stay here knowing this is the best site there is and that John and the mods work so hard to keep it a great place, it really is your loss.
