    Just curious

    Hi,

I am a new member here and I was just curious about the purpose of one of the rules. Yes I read the rules, and yes I will abide by them... but I am just curious why the board is against "lingo"? Is there any particular reason or do you just not like it?

I'm not HUGELY into lingo or anything... except I do occasionally type things like "u" and "ur" and "lol". So what if I slip up and accidentally type something like that just cause I'm so used to it when I type fast?

    thanks

    - Jessica

I don't know what happens because I've never done it. But I think you might get reminded not to do it by someone.

    By the way, !

I don't think you'll hear too much for an occasional slipup!
I have found the Truth and it doesn't make sense.

When I first joined her I accidently spelt a few words in lingo, but eventually slowly corrected myself and I don't do it anymore. I do type 'lol' sometimes though, just because you can't always put laughing smilies or 'haha' all the time. If you are worried that you will do it you will remember not to most likely and eventually correct yourself.

Welcome to FORT. I believe one reason for that rule is that the mods and the owner have to read SO many posts throughout FORT. It would be very annoying to read a lot of lingo. Also, when one/a few people use it, others might follow and it will become too much lingo.

Take a look around the different forums here and enjoy.

Skittles, welcome. The reason is simple: I don't like it. There's nothing deeper than that.

To be completely honest, I *hate* lingo. With a burning passion that consumes my soul.

And if you do slip occasionally, you'll probably get a reminder PM from me. If it happens more than occasionally, posts will start disappearing. Yes, I hate it that much.

So, please respect our clear request to not use it, and save it for when you're on IM with your buddies, and we'll all be cool.

Is "lol" lingo? Just not so sure...

Not really, unless you end every sentence with it.
