    IANAL = I am not a lawyer
    IIRC = If I recall correctly
    I have to admit that I've never seen those, and I got the same association(??!!) as Bama about the former...
    XD is a smilie face, for people too lazy or whatever to use our REAL smilies.
    Yeah, I've seen that one, and it's really annoying, imnsho.

    IMNSHO = in my not so humble opinion

    ETA: John snuck in right before me with some more ones, several of which I've never seen.
    I missed ROFLMAO though, but I think you can guess what that one means .

    I must admit, I am surprised that "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch" is so widely and frequently used on message boards that it required an acronym. Personally, by the time I thought of all the letters in it, I might as well have typed the thing. But then again, IANAL (a disclaimer that, really, could cover about any situation).

    I've seen YMMV used mostly in reference to advice being given. For example: I highly recommend the cereal Lucky Charms, because when I eat it a magical leprachaun shows up at my door and leads me by the hand to a pot of gold. YMMV.

    Basically, your mileage may vary is another way of saying: what is given, be it advice, instructions, etc, given may not hold for the same results for your as it did for me.

    I called my 10 year old over to help me read it--until the first time she called someone a something something! We did well reading it aloud, though, up to then.

    Yeah, I really should add that the site I linked earlier has become far from PG-13, as far as language goes. Although even when she swears, she does it in lingo. But that's what happens when a site like somethingawful calls attention to a journal; people descend like vultures.

    So anyone else who thinks about linking to it, be forewarned.
